Ah, but it this still the original Allen Brown? Is there an unbroken ownership trail, is he still to original specification (I had heard whispers of an ankle update - was this done and if so was it to current FIA guidelines), are there period documents with Allen Brown information? Does Ted have period photographs? I think we should be told!
Happy birthday Allen!

You are all most kind, notably E1pix for not guessing the real - and more scary - number.

I can confirm that I am largely to original specification and entirely unrestored but not necessarily roadworthy. Please don't suggest crack testing.

Many happy returns, Allen, and keep up the good work. If you and your fearless team of researchers hadn't done it, who on earth would have made such comprehemsive and invaluable information freely available on a public website?

Happy birthday Allen. I must say you are looking very well for 70 years of age. :p

Seriously, thanks for all you do, WATN would still be but a pipedream if it wasn't for your help and enthusiasm, which never seems to wane.

Have a good day, a good few days at Brands and see you on Saturday where adequate refreshment can be bought to celebrate your milestone. :)

Happy birthday Allen.

Now, as long as nobody has a small discarded piece from which to create a replica AB and then claim that's the original............

Genetic engineering makes confirmation of who is the real AB & who is a clone problematic. We will need to fact check every single minute, hour, day & year of AB's life to confirm originality. This will mean documenting all the wrinkles & foibles of somebody who is greatly advanced in years---& a lot of people don't want to own up to their age....

Happy Birthday!

For a moment I thought this thread was about former F1 driver Alan Brown, but he died in 2004. It always had found it strange that he only race in 9 F1 GPs since he was clearly very talented, this guy finished 5th in the Swiss (his debut) and 6th in the Belgian GP in 1952 in a Ecurie Richmond (the team he had founded with Eric Brandon) entered Cooper!

I realize now this is a thread about Allen Brown and not Alan Brown but can anyone explain me why Alan Brown never drove more F1 races and how he did in other competitions?

btw: happy B-day Allen.

A few of Alan Brown's achievements listed here am I correct in thinking Alan was not related to Allen ?

I think Alan Brown had about as many GP drives as he deserved. Those 1952 results depended on an amount of attrition among the faster competitors. Brown wasn't in the Hawthorn class. And I think he retired to concentrate on his business interests at a time when he might otherwise have been pursuing a career at a higher level

I don't think Alan Brown was ever an F1 driver only a Grand Prix driver. He only ever drove F2 cars surely. I am sure that Allen would be the first to point out that F1 and Grand Prix were by no means always the same thing but perhaps on his birthday thread in response to a well wisher it would not be appropriate.

To be fair, he drove in several F1 races in 1954-55, giving the Vanwall its debut in the 1954 International Trophy. He was almost an F1 GP driver, having qualified for, but then being a DNS in, the 1954 British GP.
