I heard Paul Jackson built and raced racing cars by himself.

Which cars did he built?
Anyone with race results?

Paul tackles Oulton Park's Lodge Corner at the wheel of a Sparton, in the late 1970s.

Paul Jackson and Norman Pierce ran Sparton Cars in the late seventies and early eighties. Paul himself raced in FF1600, FF2000 and F3. He may also have raced in Formula Talbot, a class in which Sparton were very successful.

Yes, Alan, he did race in Formula Talbot - and successfully so.

Paul's F3 career began in the Sparton SE420 - a car Ayrton Senna also drove. During a Silverstone test in 1983, Ayrton had a quiet moment and agreed to do a few laps in the Sparton, to give Norman and Paul a second opinion.

In 1984 Paul sometimes drove a Valour Racing Ralt RT3 in F3. He was entered for that year;s Macau GP, but didn't get to take part because his team-mate Ross Cheever kept crashing. Once he'd demolished his own car and the spare, Ross jumped into Paul's chassis: if memory serves, he stuffed that, too...

Indeed the case - he & I were briefly team-mates in said formula!
