This one could go well in a bike, & with a bit of a power tune - go even better..

I think the main thing for racing e at club level is cost and ease of maintenance, 2 strokes are hands down better in this respect.
I have only been to one club meeting in recent years and was very disappointed, it was a Snet.
Full of late 20 to 40 year olds with big bellies on big 4 strokes going slowly. They all carry on about how well their bikes handle so why aren't they going faster.
Walking around the pits , most of them had immaculate leathers , they tells its own tale.
Only one person stuck out as trying he was on a 350LC , during the 70 and 80s it was not uncommon to see 10 bikes scrapping for the lead especially 250.
there was an electric bike in midfield and that was just strange! God can you imagine a race meeting without noise and smell. Then again you will be able to hear your mobile phone ringing.

Michael Scott wrote in a recent AMCN article,
"Many people who have experienced 2-stroke motorcycles, whether in racing,
or on the road, or in the bush, still harbour hopes the simple engine may make a return.
2-strokes are light, simple to make & maintain, & make excitingly snappish & plentiful power"
Yeah, too right..
Good on ya, Mikey..

Current Aussie Motorcycle Trader mag has a Kawasaki H2 feature written by Ian Falloon..
He writes,
"They're now a cult machine to those who appreciate the era of 2-stroke dominance.
Compared with an early H2, 4-stroke Japanese Superbikes were simply bland & boring."
The feature includes a period ad, wherein it is stated..
"Among the world's production models, it's the fastest thing on 2 wheels.
Faster than any Suzuki, faster than any Triumph.
Faster than any BSA, any Honda, any anything."
Too bad Kawasaki aint got the balls to run with this heritage & build a clean (DFI) green meanie triple today..

Good rant Andy all to true, glad I am in the pipe & slippers years of my life, I do get angry but now I forget why & it makes me tired so I have a nap in the old arm chair and dream of days gone by, the best days I think!
Agree with you Graham, i have even stopped shouting at the television, realised they couldn't hear me one day.
My misses frowns at me when i do, haha
But if one could choose one era in hindsight to stay in forever it would be the one we grew up in

Indeed, Bill for all the hi-tech advances, we are subjected to relentless dumbing down,& increasing nanny-state proscription..
C'mon KTM, where is my new DFI 2T 900 triple, based on the long proven EXC 300 unit..
130kg & 180hp - plus clean emissions & good part throttle economy - when not hammering it....

IMHO nothing wrong with a Thames as long as you fitted the mandatory 6 cylinder Zephyr/Zodiac motor (apart from the cooling system in the summer) .

As ol' Scotty was wont to plaintively remind his skipper, "Ye cannae change the laws o' physics Capt'n.."
Here another Scotty shows us this was true 30 years ago too, with an RZ 500 showing lardy 4T thousands how to do it..

It has been proven that two strokes can be made 'greener' than four strokes using modern materials (especially ceramics).
Not only that the energy and raw materials used to manufacture less parts also make them greener.
It is only the likes of the evil empire (Honda) and bent, pig ignorant politicians, 99.999% of whom are too bloody thick to know better that proliferate and sustain the myth that four strokes and, Dog help, us electric cars and bikes will save the planet (Oh says the green lobby you only have to plug then into a socket to charge, what's on the end on the socket an Efin great nooclear power station the decommissioning of will cost billions and will pollute the rest of the planet for millions of years, and that is if it all goes to plan)' .
The best way to save the planet is to get rid of these wankers and let the sensible population of the world live a decent life.
It’s no wonder extra terrestrial life leaves us alone when it sees the quality of Earths' so called leaders, politicians, religious humbugs, bankers, lawyers, rich criminals and the general nutters that float to the top like Sc*m.

I had to work the wipers by hand on mine, not good in snow.
Plus it only went downhill?

From a recent Australasian Dirt Bike mag, commenting on why 2Ts are now allowed back into 250 MX racing.
"Running a 4-stroke through a season of racing can be very costly...
The 4-stroke engine has more moving parts, & when they wear out & let go,
they can leave you with a hefty bill often in the thousands of dollars...
If you have a major blow up with a 2-stroke then it is much cheaper to fix...
...4-stroke engine rebuilds are much more costly, & most likely will have to
be sent off to the shop to be done, which is never a cheap exercise."

& if you check out the scene at 2:50 in - during that Castrol 6 hour vid in post # 62 - wherein the RZ 350 stays rubber-side up,
it gives another graphic view of the 2Ts natural race-bike affinity..

Stupidly funny really that a showroom stock KTM 250 MX 2T.. ..at a fraction of the cost..
..has more power than their factory Moto 3 250 G.P. road-racer..

Pity in a way it hasn't a big H badge ,otherwise there would be a class for it in GP racing ........................................
