 If you will be home next Wednesday.August 3.rd..at 7.pm.(Aussie time )
30 Questions..I hope to see plenty of contenders..(uncle Tom Cobley and all)........
Perhaps even EiPix will have an early Nanny Nap and be able to stay awake this time.
Though I heard a rumour that he may be kayaking on Lake Placid (Take care buddy !! )

 OK David..Message received and understood..But it would cost a duty free bottle
of Jim Beam to delay it for 20 minutes :rotfl:
Feel free to use a computer to answer questions..I know Ray Bell prefers to answer by memory
but I try to be TRICKY..!!
Hopefully it will get the grey matter working.!!

 HI..In the previous QUIZ...Question Number 26..What hand held device changes two
photos into one 3D Photo......Altitude answered Viewmaster..which I was not aware of and
gave a point to Wenoopy for his answer...Streroscope..
Now that I have checked ...Viewmaster on Wikipedia..That device does that as well..!!
So must give a point to Altitude ,which gives him a total of...3...Same as Wenoopy...
All correct now I hope...RON MAC.

I Protest!!

Viewmaster is only a trade name!!!

Stereoscope is the scientific name for the device!!!

I think they have been around for about 100 years. I remember my father had a few very old double-banger photos (about 2.5 inch square each) mounted on card, which obviously were meant to be viewed through some sort of stereo viewer. Subject matter and style of clothing (no, they weren't porn) suggested pre World War One. My brother may still have them. I will ring him.

Ronmac:

Darn, I sure appreciate the callout! I either "rate" or "suck." We're between trips.... leaving tomorrow for a week hike in Coloradee, then a day's drive, then a 20-day hike in Wyoming.

No "Lake Placid," but lots of placid lakes along the trail.

Yes, it's true.... "I'm no fun, I fell right over."

I'll play sometime, sorry for the party poop!!! Insult at will, won't be here to read it!

 HI Rob 29..The quiz is something I put together every 2 or 3 weeks,,Just to be
difficult and tricky.which hopefully keeps the grey matter in trim..Lots about motoring
and racing,,some T.V. .music and general knowledge.. David Mc Kinney was the quiz
master but recently may be a bit busy..Now Tim Murray and Polly (parot) is best
with David Shaw only one point behind..
I get shouted down if I get something wrong .as you can see..!From time to time there
is some heated discussion..All in good fun..I THINK !!

Hi wenoopy,,I think it is a viewmaster that does the same thing..Changes 2 pictures into
a 3D picture..Pehaps Stereoscope is the Trade Name ..?? (Stirring )
I did.nt deduct any of your points..
Our family had a Stereoscope too and was kept in the family till I came to Australia.
I remember some black and white photos of the antarctic about Captn.Scotts time.
In the olden days. I did not ever use a viewmaster.
.
Happy now or do we take it to Supreme Court.!(LOL )

I'll see if I can be here, Ron...

The memory's getting a bit over-full, so I might resort to looking in magazines. Is that okay?

 HI Ray..Yes No Problem..Use whatever means you have.. I understand that it is possible
to have a split screen on your computer..Question on one side and get answer on the other..Don.t
know how to myself..So use the brain...magazines..books...computers...as long as you don.t look
over my shoulder !!
But being a big help (on the quiet ) here are some answers...!! ONE..HERBERT..EIGHT..ENA..JOE..!!

 I have never seen the viewer, only the pictures.

No, legal action will not be required, just dragging out some more info from the punters. Anyway, I have enough legal bills in the offing already. Just bought a new(well, different actually - not very new) beach place, and still trying to sell previous one.
As a matter of motor racing interest, a "consultant" to legal firm I deal with is one Walter Hugh Kettelwell, quite a successful Mini Cooper driver of the late 1960's. Don't think he did the Deep South races, but ran at Wigram at least twice.

Stu

PS : I think a consultant is someone who is about to be put out to graze, in the legal world.

 HI Noopy..Great that we can come to a satisfactory conclusion...It would be sad
if you got into a STEW ,,STU..
Good luck with the beach house..Sounds suitable for our
T.N.F. Easter Conference..as Rays Mrs.realised that we would turn their front lawn into a
Race Track. !
I remember a Hugh Kettlewell racing ,not sure if I saw him on the track or in magazines.
I.m sure that David Mc Kinney will remember him. (David remembers everything )
Good idea to mention to Hugh that he is remembered. (Might be good for a 50 % discount
off his fees )
Hi G.Mackie..The V.Bub man..Yes there is definately a V.W.Question there..Somewhere.!

On past performances, I suspect I will get more enjoyment out of the pre-quiz sniping and the post-quiz horse-trading than I will from trying to answer the actual questions. But it's all "Part of the Glorious Unfolding Tapestry of Life". Wouldn't miss it for quids. Remember Quids? I think the Poms still have them, but they're not worth much now.

Unfortunately, this has reminded me of a very old joke........A shark saw an almost-dead squid, and grabbed it in it's mouth. He swam up to another shark, spat out the squid, and said "There's the six quid that I owe you!" Perhaps I should have tried harder to forget that one.

Edit: Bruce McPhee & Barry Mulhulland (sp?) came first, of course. I can't recall the other placegetters - possibly HDT second (Bond/Roberts) and I actually thought a Falcon may have come third.
