Congratulations to Osiris(boy) who picks up his first medal and makes it a gold with 742pts, launching himself 12 places into 21st in the process. Silver went to Pat Byrne who has been languishing near the bottom despite making 5 transfers early on. Perhaps they're finally going to work! He moves up 3 into 46th place. The bronze goes to LancsVillan with 703pts. He is making serious inroads into the top end of the table and improves to 10th place. His 5th jump in a row since being 36th after Monaco.
We also have a new leader of the competetition. Makarias has also made 5 consecutive jumps and makes it to the top spot as AVFCDAN drops to joint 5th after a poor performance from Sutil. He is joined in 5th by Ryan's Sutil Pun who drops from 2nd place. Former leader of the competition, Costaz, moves back into 2nd place after a 5 race absence and BOF (me) climbs into 3rd, my highest position of the season. Other movers of note include WiganVillain who moves 11 places into 23rd though this is more correcting a blip of the past 2 races and he is now back where he is more accustomed to. Apex makes steady progress towards the top 10 moving himself into 11th after being 22nd in Valencia.
The one team to make a change for this GP was Osiris and I must say it was a masterstroke. Swapping Alguersuari & Kovalainen's positions earned him a further 100pts compared to their original positioning and helped Osiris to move up 6 places to add to the 10 climbed in Germany putting him 22nd. Stephen's Red Balls are now up 2 places to 9th which is the highest they've been since race 3 in China. His philosophy to 'pick Red Bulls and fill in the gaps' has worked to a point up to now, though his Virgin engine is slightly letting him down.
