Goebbels and the Avus-rennen

hellow

read here that Nazi Propaganda Minister Goebbels was the patronage of the AVUSRENNEN in 1937.

was he at the race ?
is there any photos and Documents about that ?

There's a photo in Hitler's Motor Racing Battles by Eberhard Reuss showing Josef and Magda Goebbels on the Avus podium with Lang and Hühnlein, so he was definitely at the race.

Yes, more or less a complete run of AAZ, plus some other motoring mags. Sadly, they all cease publication shortly after the Anschluss.

Yes he was and if you can source a copy of the late John Dugdale's fabulous book Great Motor Sport of the Thirties (Wilton House Gentry 1977) you will find coverage of the event and much more of this era. There is/was a copy for sale on Amazon Australia.

Dugdale worked for Autocar magazine in period and his photos were for years held by his friend Karl Ludvigsen but now reside I think with the Collier Collection in Florida.
