I could direct this enquiry to the club, but I have every faith in TNF as a first stop :)

Richard Stallebrass was apparently the man behind the postwar re-establishment of the Aston Martin Owners' Club, but was killed before much progress could be made. Dudley Coram was probably the prime mover after that, with StJohn 'Jock' Horsfall also prominent

I know the year each of these gentlemen died, but not the years of their respective births. Can anyone help?

Also, we know about Horsfall's WW2 exploits, but does anyone recall what Stallebrass and Coram did for the effort? I'm not sure that Coram served, but believe Stallebrass did

How's that for a challenge?

Stallebrass was commissioned as a Pilot Officer Jan 27th 1940 (London Gazette Issue 34790 published on the 13 February 1940).

Transferred to Technical Branch, Jul 22nd 1940 (London Gazette Issue 34982 published on the 29 October 1940).

Promoted to war substantive Flying Officer January 27th 1941 (London Gazette Issue 35114 published on the 21 March 1941).

Promoted Flight Lieutenant (temporary) September 1st (London Gazette Issue 35725 published on the 29 September 1942) [Same date and list as Dennis Poore!]

Confirmed at Flight Lieutenant (war subs) Mar 2nd 1946 (London Gazette Issue 37639 published on the 2 July 1946).

Ground crew, presumably.

Thanks vm, Richard

Motor Sport gave his age as 26 at the time of his death; he would in fact have just turned 29

Coram's death notice in The Times says he was a Squadron Leader in the RAFVR, but doesn't give an age at death. I was halfway through a long post recounting his promotions when the London Gazette site froze on me. Coram served in the Equipment Branch.

Dudley Saville Gery Coram:

Commissioned Acting Pilot Officer on probation June 1st 1940 (London Gazette Issue 34881 published on the 25 June 1940).

Confirmed as Pilot Officer on probation July 24th 1940 (London Gazette Issue 34976 published on the 22 October 1940).

Confirmed as Pilot Officer as of June 1st and promoted Flying Officer (war subs) July 24th 1941 (London Gazette Issue 36340 published on the 15 August 1941).

Promoted Flight Lieutenant (temporary) September 1st (London Gazette Issue 35725 published on the 29 September 1942) [Amazingly, the same date and list as Stallebrass and Poore!]

Confirmed at Flight Lieutenant (war subs) Nov 1st 1943 (London Gazette Issue 36340 published on the 18 January 1944).

I can't find any further wartime promotions, but presumably as he was stated to be a Squadron Leader he must have remained on the reserve list after the war.

Dudley Saville Gery Coram:

Birth registered in Lewisham district in 1903 - his death registration (first quarter of 1976) gives his DoB as 20 March 1903.

StJohn 'Jock' Horsfall

When his death was registered in 3rd quarter of 1949, his age was given as 37, but infact his birth was registered in 3rd quarter of 1910; his age in the 1911 census (8 months) suggesting a birth in July 1910 (at Morningthorpe, Norfolk)
