Doug, the fourth last pic looks like the HWM Jag replica. Do you have a better pic of it?

David, two NZ made aluminium bodied 'projects' came to WA several years ago. I'm not sure how much of them was there-- maybe body and chassis. Certainly not completed. An awful lot of work has since gone into this one. Haven't heard if the other has progressed. Thanks for posting the pic, Ken.

Thanks Rod. I believe they were very much "kits" that you had to add your own Jaguar bits to

Hi Rod

Keep them "TOONS" coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both HWM 's are up and running, Graemes's looks and goes well now that it has been debugged and our Jag expert has fettled it a bit, Rod Mathers has the other and its ready to hit the track as we speak, we should see it tested and running for the stampede!!!

All you have said are true the cars have been here for over 10 years and handed around now they are all complete. Both look spended. A welcome addition to our regularity fields.

How refreshing to see an old Simca Aronde among the other stuff. I believe they were quite a familiar sight in Australia.

Yes, after Chrysler's takeover of Simca, the Australian Chrysler operation capitalised on the early efforts to sell the cars here...

With local assembly they were inexpensive and a good alternative to such things as Vauxhall Victors and Morris Majors, had much better suspension than the A50s etc.

I've never known whether that later body style was a purely Australian thing or was used internationally. I believe we had the only station wagons of that model, however.

But why, oh why, did they not have a temperature gauge or warning light?

Ray,
The later, as sold by Chrysler Aus was international. The P60 model. There was however a carryover of the earlier 90A models sold alongside the P60.
The four door wagon was an Australian design. One found its way to France in recent years, Simcaphiles over there were amazed that the design wasn't adopted by Chrysler Simca France.
Simca France had a two door P60 version, called the "Chatelaine".

The Moggie Major sans fins wasn't a bad looker, competition for the Simca. The Fiat 1100 would have been also, I think it was more expensive, 100 quid or so.

The Simca spotted in the Albany RTH report belongs to Darrel Manning. It is an early '60's model with the Rush engine. Having raced Simcas back in the Caversham days Darrel has done a sympathetic ? rebuild of his racer. Because of the prohibitive expense involved in racing Darrel will just be running his Simca in Regularity and Round the Houses type events.

Having owned Simcas over the years I can't recall Ray, if they had any temp warnings. Oil press was uppermost in my concerns back then!

I thought i had another pic of the Simca sadly no,so i enlarged it instead.

The Simca ArondeP60 went really well, the MG Magnette was a good example of the marque and the Studebaker lark was a real crowd pleaser that day in Albany.

Perhaps the title of this thread could have the year deleted. Following are a few snapshots of the 2013 event which was held last weekend.
The town was loaded with visitors, the entry numbered around 150 and though overcast, the Mt Clarence hillclimb on Saturday and the Round-the-Houses events on Monday mainly enjoyed dry conditions. We didn't stay all day but I understand the program ran out of time due to clean-up stoppages. [There was the usual abundance of enthusiasm for a 'regularity' event!] On Monday we spotted one sedan, possibly an SLR 5000 Torana, with the r/h headlight repositioned somewhere near the windscreen. Looked like a full-stop against a concrete barrier.

That Alvis is a nice looking little thing!

But is the toolbox the right kind of 'handbrake' to use?

Good to see Gordon Mitchell is playing the game, too. And isn't Albany just the perfect spot for it?

Close Rod,
Finally something I know that the great master of Indian ink didn’t know!!

BRAX Dodge Ex Brian Scrivener now owned by Ron West and back running at Albany after about a 7-8 year absence. Went as always, very well and still close to the pace.

Was interesting to go back over the earlier photos, the J2 Now sporting a Zoller Blower for the event!!
