Hello,

I would like to ask if anyone has photos about the following races in France about these cars:

Date: September 1976.
Race: Belleau
Driver: Fréquelin
Car: Alpine (sic!) BMW

Date: 1976
Race: Col de Vence
Driver: J. Albertini
Car: BMW 320 Csi (sic!)

Source: Auto Hebdo, num 31.

Why am I ask these: I would like to know if these are usual journalist-typos, or some part of the untold history of racing.

1. Alpine (which was famous French sport car maker) as i know never made any race car with BMW engine.

Journalist in the 70's often mixed the name of the french AlpinE with the german BMW tuner AlpinA.

It might be not an Alpina, as http://www.coursedec...76,1160901.html says Alpine FL-BMW. AlpinA never made any car named like this.

2. BMW 320 Csi never existed as I know. In 1976 several factory or tuner made 3.0 CSi and CSL race cars for different races (French GR 1/B, ETCC, etc). Also 1976 was the first year of the racing the Eggerberg (or what) BMW 320i which is different BMW modell.

http://www.coursedec...76,1160947.html says it was a BMW 3.0 CSi. But then how it became 320 CSi ?

Can you help me solve this problem ?
