Pound to a penny the thief doesn't appreciate what he has stolen.
Either that or it's been pinched to order.

I have an idea the car is a little red cigar-shaped thing; it would be helpful to get some description on the tow apparatus.

Similar thing happened a while back in US Elan circles. Thieves dumped the "old car in the back" (damaged, unfortunately) and only wanted the tow-truck and trailer.
Hope this turns out well.

I have sent all the details to my brother in Canada - He edits VARAC the online Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada magazine - and asked him to spread the information.
