well, IIRC he crashed out this year, destroying suspension during the stage.

Who of note hasn't bingled it at some stage, that is what the Dakar is about, risk acceptance on the edge of your driving limits over x time. I am amazed by those who don't crash in this type of racing. What is Robbies Baja record?

Much more risk than WRC

Wow, I didn't know Block was that old. What was his career before all this? Was he still racing during his twenties?

Sums it up really. :p

As for his Gymkhana, it's an enjoyable piece of advertising video and that's all. I liked previous ones more. This one is a bit over the top with all these flames and whatnot.

That's the way I see it... It's fun to watch him drive like that, but it's way too much "Hollywood" for me.

New video out, shot on the mean streets (and barges, and loading docks) of SF.

Brilliant. Overall great sense of having an empty city to play in, with just the occasional passing car in the background to ruin the illusion.

It was only really missing a zombie attack.

Yeah that was really fun :) Amazing to see the kind of access he gets to make these videos.

Odd to see them only use Pastrana for one little scene though, and only doing trick they've done a million times before in these videos.

It's lacking originality, despite the location being great. Multiple stunts have been done before but I still like the effort. But why is the video so fricking long? It could have been cut by several minutes, through less confusing and repeatable replays and the end just doesn't make sense :')..

Ken Block could not even finish a F1 formation lap with the actual Pirelli P-Zero :)

I reckon Ken goes to the shops sideways. I don't think I've seen him drive in a straight line.

Motorsport purists need to get their heads around the fact that this sells. It's not "right" or "wrong" it just is...

Motorsport purity gets you 15 cars for the European Le Mans Series this weekend at Donington - it's going to rubbish because certain people won't compromise to the point at which whatever they want to do isn't commercially viable.

I work in sportscar racing and have a love for the history of the sport, but if I was paying with my own money I wouldn't go to an ELMS race I'd go to a stadium and watch Block or even drifting.

With regard to Gymkhana 5 - I still prefer the Montlhery one on the banking, but the sideways corner with all four wheels off the deck here is pretty impressive.

It's fun - don't get too hung up on whether it's worthy or not.

Despite all that, it's still loads better than drifting.

Travis Pastrana was trolling that run!

Anyway it will be interesting to see what he can do on a set of Supersoft P-Zero's :p

Kimi and Lewis, eat your hearts out.

And why exactly should they?

If you read the rest of the thread, the name of the car in one of the clips is "Hoonigan."  This was shortly after Lewis was caught "Hooning" in Australia.

As for Kimi, I forget.
