This has just been alerted to me via Twitter:

Charlie Brooker
Daft thing about my F1 tweets is I'm actually fronting a 13-part series about it on BBC4 next month. Really hope I haven't put anyone off!!!

First I've heard about a 13 part F1 series, I suspect its a nostalgia series, hence why I've placed it here. Anyone over here heard more about it?

Being a bit cynical, what new ground could they possibly cover?

I'll take that further, what do you guys think they should cover?

There is no mention of this on the BBC web page. I do enjoy Mr Brookers work but think that this is his humour at play. BBC4 do not make 13 part series about any subject least of all F1 and if they did would certainly play it with a straight bat rather than the shall we say alternative viewpoint of the aforementioned Charlie Brooker.

Having said all that I think a 30 min programme on his views of contemporary formula one would be well worth a watch!

I have, she actually got me watching Blue Peter (with the sound muted) for a while, she's fit.

Bearing in mind that it is widely believed that the BBC made its Faustian bargain with Sky & Bernie in order to avoid having to axe BBC4, I suspect this is Mr Brooker's version of satire.

It seems like he's got annoyed with people who are complaining about the F1 BBC-Sky TV deal for next year using the argument that BBC 4 should be axed instead, as more people watch the F1 broadcasts than any programme on BBC 4.

I watch far more BBC4 compared to F1 so I'm happy.

I'd happily ditch BBC3 if it meant a full season of F1. Most of its output is absolutely dire.

BBC 4 is really the only quality channel left, it is what BBC 2 used to be pity it does not even start until 7.00pm.

Exactly althoughj not the best presenter of BP she did add an exotic ingrediant to the show.

Can't understand why it should only start at 7.00pm either!

BBC3 and BBC4 have to share transponders on the Astra satellites with CBeebies and CBBC, which broadcast during the day. Unlikely to change, as BBC are about to cut their total number of Astra transponders from six to five as part of costcutting on Red Button services.

I suppose they could theoretically run BBC3 and BBC4 on Freeview during the day, but that would probably be uneconomic - added to which much of their output (especially BBC3) is "post-watershed" only. And as BBC don't even seem to be able to find anything halfway sensible to put out on BBC2 during the day they'd presumably struggle even more to fill that airtime.

It's clearly a joke tweet. Charlie Brooker hates all sport.

I've just watched an excellent documentary on BBC 3: Sex, Lies and Gagging Orders. Well worth catching in iPlayer if you missed it.

Bring back the test card! What do we want? The test card! When do we want it? ... Connie Huq would be a reasonable image, and Carol Vorderman's tush, which was the only reason for watching Countdown.

I can remember when there was only one TV channel and it shut down 6-7pm so families could put the kids to bed! When ITV started they filled this slot with an ad.mag.
However I recall the BBC covered more non F1WC racing than they do now.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Rachel Riley's tush ...

I went to the same college as Rachel Riley, her fiance studied the same subject as I did. Dammit. Only a few years and a few million quid out...

I'm probably just one of a huge majority on TNF to whom the name Rachel Riley meant absolutely nothing before today, but those pics have stirred a distant memory, wasn't she on that radio panel game years ago, Arse me another ?

Cheeky! The gluteus maximus obviously comes high on the list of attributes necessary for the job. Prhaps the new test card could be a tush card.

I rushed straight here when I saw Tony had posted. I thought he might have prepared a cutaway drawing for us!

OK, I'll leave now. I'm just lowering the tone. Even further.
