The HSRCA have loaded the last 2 laps from the recent Winter race meeting taken from my camera mounted over my right shoulder on the BT21C onto their website. Go to ...

http://www.hsrca.com...-brabham-bt21c/

A few details from the footage. John Bowe in the Trevor Simpson Brabham BT23B Climax won the race from debutant Damon Hancock in the family Brabham BT23C FVA who lowered the 4 valve lap record on the last lap. At the commencement of the footage I am in 3rd spot, but Howard Blight in the supercharged twincam Elfin 300 slips under me at turn 2. I manage to hang on to him and repass down the straight next lap, only to immediately again lose 3rd spot to Ross Hodgson driving Les Wright's Brabham Buick V8. I am also being monstered on the last lap by the mighty Matich SR3, and you can see glimpses of the green car in the rear vision mirror. There were 20 starters in the combined M & O Racing and Sports Racing event.

This footage was taken with the most simple of cameras, a helmet cam I bought on Ebay new for about $50 and runs on to AAA batteries. It is therefore self contained and only weighs about 2 ounces or 60 grams. It is the same as Ebay item no. 330607416027 for those interested. The camera shake is because of the softish mount I use.

These are I think my last 2 laps on the circuit in this format ... Eastern Creek are changing the layout and adding 800 metres to the area around Corporate Hill, and then they will be able to hire a short circuit, a short long circuit or if you do the whole lot a long long circuit.

Drove the short long circuit a week ago, it will have very fast lap speeds, top of circuit where you are only pulling 4th will be definintely getting up there in 5th, with only 1 slow corner T2, it'll be a real buzz !!

Oh and I wouldn't normally be that far up the field, Richard Carter and Paul Hamilton weren't there !

I would love to see some on-board footage from John Bowe's Brabham BT23 of his dices with Les Wright's Brabham Buick at the HSRCA Eastern Creek meeting.

Nice footage. Notice that the Elfin is missing most apexes by well over a metre. That's up to 2 seconds a lap at the Creek. Ed is apexing well but not getting wide enough before turning in. That's about .8 lap Ed. Note how wide Ross gets on exit and even though that car would be much more difficult to place due to its power he gets most corners very accurate.
This is a good example of the range of driving skill in historics. What we saw was competant but easily inproved from Howard. Good driving from Ed but can set up corners better and very ggod driving from Ross as we have come to expect. Every driver can benefit from seeing their own driving on car cam. Some think they are doing everything right but toddling down the middle of the circuit is not right at all. If you're not on the edge you are taking up too much space!

Take up as much space as you like, Ed.......you're paying for it. Oh, and have as much fun as you like, also.

Absolutely right! It's all about having fun and constant improvement is part of that. Nothing puts a smile on the face more than improved lap times and for many people it would be very easy to achieve without trying any harder. Ed's a good example of that. He is improving all the time and never got into an open wheeler until fairly recently. People should not be afraid to have a go in a real race car as I think Ed would agree.

Andrew Robson has done it. It is on the website for the camera company, forget the name.
Youtube has some footage too.
