If anyone has any information or insight I would appreciate your help. I am trying to trace the ownership of a 1912 Mercer Raceabout that was owned by a A.Romeyn Pierson of West Palm Beach Florida. He died in 1929 under mysterious circumstances. The car was sold by the Estate in 1930 to another man. We have that information to the present time. Apparentley it was licensed in Florida. I checked with Florida DMV and was told they only go back 10 years. I was told in no uncertain terms that all old Florida records were destroyed in 2005-!
Does anyone know anything about the destruction of the old records. We were able to get records from Kansas going back a good number of years. Prehaps it is true. Your Help is appreciated- Bsatriple

I have a booklet, "How to Find Cars & Owners". It was printed in 1991, so it's way out of date. According to the page concerning Florida, it says that title/history records are retained "Indefinitely". At that time, the contact information was:
State of Florida, Dept of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles
Information Research Section
Neil Kirkman Building
Tallahassee, Fl. 32399-0500
Phone: (904)488-3881
Might be worth a try to see if this information helps at all, but don't be surprised if you get the same answer. Good luck!

JB. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I will give it a try. If it is true taht the records were destroyed it would be shame.
