Is Jean Blanc of 1971 one-off F2 "fame";
1) Jean Blanc (1913-1988), the former racing driver who appeared to finish his career in the 1950's?
2) actually Christian Blanc (1949-1997), who amongst other things appeared at Le Mans?
3) Another man altogether?
4) If number 3), is he any relation to number 2)????
Many thanks in advance, as always...

The Jean Blanc that appeared in F2 in 1971 was a regular in the Swiss championship from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s and is often given as being Swiss whereas the Jean Blanc that raced Talbots in the 1950s was - I thought - French. So I don't think so to (1), I doubt it very much to (2), yes to (3) and I haven't a clue to (4).
If I see his home town given in Automobil Revue, I'll let you know.

Jean (Talbot) Blanc was born at Viuz en Sallae, Haute-Savoie, and died at Massy-Palaiseau, Essonne

Cheers both - it certainly looks like two JB's (I mean more people would be aware if Jean "Talbot" Blanc made a return at the age of 58) but one has to double check. Think he might be a bit of a mystery mind as a result...

The "modern" Jean Blanc is certainly swiss, and he has been discussed a couple of times in the french forum Autodiva ( among other things, because outside of his F3/F2 career he sometimes played around with his own McLaren M7C or March 741 in slaloms or sprints for his pleasure...) . I hope I manage to make the links below work properly. In one of the posts linked below, he is presented as having been "one of the great hopes of the Geneva gang" and having won the F3 Grand Prix des Frontières at Chimay ( from James Hunt among others ) It is also stressed that he is not the french Jean Blanc, who drove for Talbot from 1952 to 1955.

By the way, following many "trolling" incidents I think you need to be registered on Autodiva to view posts .

As it happens, I've found a source that confirms it - Blanc, sadly, is no longer with us, dying in 1997. http://www.roadbookm...-dans-la-ferme/
