Heres a couple of cars built recently for running in events at my local slot car clubs in the North East; North East Restoration Club Slots and Tyneside Slot Car Club.

Isn't that a Mk 2 Rapier not an Alpine?

Having got that off my chest, these are a very nice pair of models. in particular I like the bungee cord holding the Jaguar's bonnet closed.

Thanks for spotting that Duncan! It was very early when I posted it - must have had Alpines on my mind... I've now corrected it.

Cheers,
Dave

Great work Dave, love it! Can I ask what sort of chassis you use?

Thanks Steve.

Both cars run on a very basic scratchbuilt 2 peice brass chassis; not too pretty to look at, but they're raced regularly at my local clubs and are reasonably effective.

Dave is being modest when he says his cars are reasonably effective. He builds very quick scale slot cars and they are always to an extremely high concours standard.

I hope Dave doesn't mind me gatecrashing his thread with a photo of my workbench today;

There is a 1960s saloon car slotrace meeting in Wolverhampton on the 7th and 8th October and I'm finishing this Mini Cooper as my entry in the small car class. I'm also looking forward to meeting up with Dave who is also entered for the event.

I wish I had time for slot racing, I just love the 'inventing' you do Dave and David. Thanks for the chassis photo's.

David; I really do like the look of your 'works' mini cooper. I'll also be taking my John Fitzpatrick Anglia (based on the '67 Oulton Park Gold Cup BSCC support race entry, which I built a couple of years ago) to Wolves. I'd probably do things differently if I were to attempt another one, but as it was already almost complete, it saved some time to work on the Jag & Rapier. Looking forward to catching up on the 8th/9th.
