Give the author credit for conveying it was the hunt rather than the prey that was exciting.

Put yourself in his shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 'everyone' on these boards would have had a fairly good idea that it was an exhibition model the second they saw the pics, but like buying a lottery ticket, there is always that tiny little tingle that you could be the lucky one.
