Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on (what appears to be) a rare racing Alfa Romeo. It's called the Guilietta Monoposto, they used the model code 750G. Produced in 1956-57, I have seen a list containing 24 listed chassis. As I understood, one car participated in the 1956 MM, the rest (largely) were sent to Max Hoffman in the USA. Some were raced and some were converted into street use.

Would greatly appreciate an color of info on this unknown series, and what made the cars special.
I read an account by Bill Pollack, who raced a Monoposto in 1956/57, basically stating that the mono was segnificantly faster then anything in sight including Porsche super speedsters and the like. This can -I assume- only be achieved via significant engine modifications. Anyone knows what made these cars go fast?

Yes there were 24 750G's made, a Spider Veloce with a metal tonneau over the passenger side and a wrap around windscreen for the driver. It was Sanesi who drove in the '56 MM (#425). As far as I can work out it was a relatively standard Spider Veloce, lightend and shipped to the USA for use in the SCCA races. I don't think its speed is anything to be surprised about, they could rev to 6500 which gave about 90bhp in road car form. And from the photo I have of the engine bay it looks like a standard engine with all the regular heater ducts, air filter and carburation. Ten were white, the rest red.
