Hi all
I was looking through some old papers the other day and the name Gordon Huxley came up. I met Gordon in the early eighties when we both worked at the Bacton Gas Terminal on the Shell site. Gordon worked for Shell and came into Bacton as part of the rotation of employees. I was racing at the time and he was doing a few races but money and family were starting to come into play. At the time he had a 500 reverse cylinder Yamaha which Gordon knew would be a rare beast even then. Several years later I met him again at a local bike show where he turned up on an old unrestored ES2 and he told me he still had the 500 Yamaha. If I remember correctly his brother Derek was the more successful of the two and was he 350 British champion at some time ? Anyway if anyone has any pics or info on them it would be nice to see and hear.

Gordon started the same time as me in the late seventies, we often parked together at meetings and I knew him quite well, he was certainly a hard rider and took a few heavy tumbles, the last time I saw him he was working off shore and was under threat of losing his job if he had any more time off due to racing injuries, so had scaled down his racing as a result.

I might have a paddock shot somewhere from the early 80's, i'll have a look when I get chance.

Derek Huxley is still very active within the British Superbike Championship paddock and has been Alastair Seeley's right hand man/crew/chief/engineer for the last few seasons.
