Can somebody help? I have just aquired a Model-Best 1/43 Porsche 908/3 "Nurburgring 70". I presume that refers to the ADAC 1000km. The model is all white and carries number 22. Can anyone tell me who the drivers were?

If it is from the 1970 Nürburgring 1000 km, the drivers were the winning team of Vic Elford and Kurt Ahrens. Full results here:

Nürburgring 1,000-KMS 1970

Vic Elford presses on the Salzburg Porsche 908-03 with chassis 008 to clinch the Constructor's Championship for the marque. He and Ahrens played their part in bringing Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen's 1970 total to 6 Championship wins. The Elford/Ahrens car with chassis 008 won, now for KG Salzburg. Either the same car with a JWA Gulf body won the Targa Florio.

Several former factory cars were sold to privateers. The one with chassis 908 03 008, having won the 1970 Targa Florio and the 1970 Nürburgring 1,000-kms went to Reinhold Jöest (who tuned its engine up to 380bhp). He bought also the 908 03 012 with its unusual fuel tank at the right hand side.

The 1971 Nürburgring 1000km saw three out of the four 908/03s which started, finish in the first three places. The 908/03 continued to win in the hands of privateer teams for many years and even finished first overall in the 1980 Nürburgring 1000km.

Tim, Tonecas, thanks for your replies. That was actually the first major international race at which I spectated. I remember Elford/Ahrens winning but for some reason I had it in mind that they drove one of the Gulf cars.
Now I am even more pleased with my purchase. Thanks again.
