As now seems to be the norm, I expect to bump into Allen on almost every stand I visit!

Probably :)

So, are we agreed - TNF meeting 1.00 pm on Friday at Ted's stand (P29 in Hall 3)?

You know we never agree on that. Agreement is not what we do on TNF.

(I'll be there.)

I just spoke with Andrea, the press tickets, etc. have gone in the post 1st class this morning- she was up until 4am putting them together!

£15 to get in the auction? They're 'avin a larf wiv us. The auction was previously run by H&H; this time it is Silverstone Auctions. H&H are based in the North, Silverstone in the middle of nowhere. :well:

Does that mean we can't even agree to disagree? ;)

There was a time when you could buy an auction catalogue (can't recall who the auctioneers were at that stage) which included admission to the show for two people, and it made a significant saving on the gate price. I suspect that the powers-that-be have got wise to it.

I won't be there until the Sunday, I should be outside wearing a bib at about 11.15. I'll be the one using the instamatic 25.

I can't be doing with those modern cameras; I'm taking the Speed Graphic (unless it rains).

I'll be there on Friday for my RR debut - going up slightly later than hoped due to a (non-emergency) hospital appointment, but I'll be around by the time it comes to 1pm.

Belay that last comment, the S-G is hors de combat, Nikon F will be on parade though.

I hope to be at Ted's on Friday and on the stage (rally, not theatrical) on Sunday.

Ditto on the Sunday, though probably with the DigiNik rather than the clockwork one (shame!).

Always assuming I survive the drenching - or the heatstroke - at the Pom the day before.

As things stand this evening, I should be present on Friday with TNFer Jagracer / Phil Bradford. Unconfirmed as yet but a distinct possibility, a Mr.Taylor has requested a lift from me as he is keen on listening to what his old pal "Tom Parnell" has to say for himself at 12.15pm..........

http://www.raceretro...c...3&ParentID=

If Phil & Sid do both turn up, it will be the first time that these two blokes behind Nino Vaccarella pictured at Mugello have met up in 40 years.

Good show and good show of TNeffers at Ted's. Mr Cox was camera-shy. ;)

I rather liked this JC Cortina.

A couple of gripes, the disabled persons access was via carpark 3 on the opposite side of the venue from that advised on the show's website. Also, Messrs "Tom" Parnell and Richard Attwood had mysteriously dissapeared from today's programme of guests. The gent's toilets were obviously designed with blokes in wellies in mind as they were lethally slippy if you were wearing the wrong type of footwear.
Otherwise, the show appeared to be exceptionally busy for the Friday. I hope to be able to see more tomorrow with an early start in mind.

As I told you, Pete, I like to fade into the background :)
Good to see so many TNF faces around and about. Was transported in style by Mr Rainford, together with Messrs Clark and Raine, and bumped into Cirrus, Allen Brown, Ted Walker, Giraffe, Simon Hadfield, Tim Murray, Nick Savage and elansprint and was told by others that I had missed Odseybod, arttidesco and Twinny.

Tim Murray and his pal put their necks on the block by entering the quiz, hosted by the excellent Steve Parrish.

Curiously, my favourite car of the show was a rally car.

The TechCraft-BRM was in need of a little TLC and was displaying evidence of a hard life.

The chap in the photo with me is former top bike racer Roger Marshall, with whom I was paired in the quiz. He turned out to be a really nice bloke, but sadly we got beaten too many times on the buzzer. :well:

It was good to meet most of those already mentioned, plus Derwent Motorsport and Richard Jenkins at the TNF meet, and Millau and RS250 elsewhere. I thought it was a great show this year.

Thanks Tim, and for the beer! Good to meet Simon Hadfield, in particular, but somehow I missed speaking to Alan Cox. Nice to catch up with all the old "mob", although some meetings were far too fleeting. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, but next time, I will come with more money, and be more organised into what I'm looking for and treat the wife AFTER Race Retro, not before.

Yep, Tony, I thought I didn't see Parnell anywhere.

The real reason for Stoneleigh for me is to catch up with all those fine chaps I don't get to see most of the rest of the year. In roughly the order I bumped into them, it was good to see David McKinney, Ted Walker, Simon and Mandy Hadfield, Stuart Dent, Richard Jenkins, Alan Cox, Andy Kitson, Tim Murray, Chris Fox, Chris Sharples, Jeremy Hall, Tony Gallagher, Roger Clarke and Duncan Rabagliati. And probably another dozen or so that aren't coming to mind at the moment!

Also a great chance to meet some people I hadn't previously met - in this case the legendary 'ARM' of Motoring News, Andrew Marriott.

But just once it would be nice to get home without spending an hour stuck in a jam on the M40!

Great time on Friday but no mention of Giraffe with his snack; french stick instead of baguette filled with usual Frank Sytner healthy breakfast!!
Great to catch up with the guys again; TNFer yarns are never boring
Also Phil Bradford, pleasure meeting again and recalling varying engine capacities within a fixed capacity formula!!
Ah, the good old days
Well done to all

Thoroughly enjoyed ogling at all the classic cars and bikes today. Felt as if there was more on offer this year than previous and, miraculously, it didn't rain all day.

Managed to collar Bjorn Waldegard before Steve Parrish did; what a charming fella. Probably wished I'd have left him alone, but hey ho...

And was it me, or did it feel like there were less visitors today than normal?

Quite correct dank, it was busy but less so than Friday. The hardcore enthusiasts turned out in force on Friday, but they were largely absent today and Joe public is skint these days. :well:

Lots of folks I have spoken to over the past year said they would not go again due to the parking/mudbath fiasco last time. I think the orgs should have played up the fact that the issue was sorted, in their pre-event publicity.

As a first time visitor, who forgot to apply for a media pass, the signage to the parking, then the parking itself, then the halls, and the whole outer area was abysmal. Very badly organised indeed.

Good thing I followed some gentlemen who seemed to know where they were going, otherwise I would still be walking around the agricultural enclosure...

That was my only gripe though, and it won't put me off next time, as I am already relishing a return, with more organisation and money. But I can imagine it would put off a lot of first-timers.

Spent yesterday (Saturday) at the show - excellent! Not too crowded, attentive and helpful trade stand personnel as well as a wonderful selection of cars and bikes.

Passed by Rowan Atkinson sneaking around the exhibits but passed on the opportunity to ask him if he knows what irony is (it's just like steely and goldie, except it's made of iron). Or perhaps ask him if he knows of a cunning plan. I'm CERTAIN no-one has ever stopped him and asked these things before
