I'll name the obvious one, John Kocinski with #1 - and I can confirm it's Rich Oliver with #97 but that's all I can contribute I'm afraid

Hi phillippe,

Thanks for the reply. We already know #46 is Doug Brauneck (that would become the AMA 1990 250cc Champ).

Not sure its Kocinski as he started in around 60th? but went on to win, having said that I thought it was, only going on what google/wiki doodah told me.

Well I didn't recognize anyone really, since in 89 I had already lost a lot of interest in the sport , but when you don't know, it's handy to know where to look - so I checked out the relevant Daytona page on the often mentioned Jack Middelburg website and there's a pic of the first three finishers in victory lane where Little John's machine definitely carries #1

Since we mention "Little John"....I can't resist showing you something that Hubert Rigal posted on the french pit-lane.biz forum . In march this year, Hubert went to spend a few days in the house of one of his former racing colleagues ( I was going to say rivals, but that would be pushing things a little ) , a beautiful ranch in California with a garage full of 500cc Grand Prix bikes, a private dirt-track, etc.... The former colleague in question had the picture below in his workshop....and he told Hubert that the character in the small pic was indeed the same as the one on the bike. Anyway....
