Looking at the Caterham vs the other 2012 cars i think that the Renault engine allows for a quite tight back end, more than you can do with a Merc for ex...
Ferrari is hard to judge due to their Exhausts/hot air exits.

Yeah, FI's sidepods aren't that impressive... but they do have integrated exhausts into them.

But regarding the nose - I really hope Williams won't get to Ferrari/Caterham level with the nose. FI is tolerable.

I guess I don't care what it looks like as long as it is quick and reliable and can deliver some respectability back to the team. I like the McLaren though so they must have looked at the opportunity around the nose area and still kept it looking sleek and not tank like.

I would like it to look good, who wouldn't?
but the primary concern is efficiency.

Given previous years trends I'd expect a higher nose on the 34. They've been high ever since the original 31 was launched only to immediately have its front end changed.

I agree, given the way the car has been going high is the likely option. Obviously it is nice to have a good looking car but last years was one of the nicest ones on the grid and that did very little for us! Hoping for a fast car first, if it does that it can have hit every branch while falling out of the ugly tree.

You DO know that maximum nose height is in the FiA regs, right? And that they lowered the maximum height for 2012..

I am feeling that Williams will come up with a very surprising solution in the area of nose. They have been doing it for several years. Even Sam has left the team, I can not imagine the whole creativity of the team is now vanished... Looking forward.

Yes. I meant the higher option of the two seen. Not higher than previous years.

On the rear wing. Incredibly innovative, and more importantly a safety aid for those around the Williams pair.

You heard it here first.

I know this is never going to happen, but if James Key is leaving Sauber for 'one of their rivals' I'd love it to be a trip to Grove.

Won't happen though.

At this point, I'm starting to lose hope of Williams not having a stepped nose like everybody else.

If you ask me, thats more fitting for Toro Rosso than Williams.

Yep, looking forward to seeing the new creation. The only way is up!

I presume it will be a dark blue testing livery again then...

Just the same here, though I have to think that when most people see this years cars they are going to be like this:

This shock face...
Are you talking specifically about the FW34?

Ps: At this point, "nose bump" wouldn't give me any shock...

No I was referring to the car launches in general so far. I am expecting the new car to have the bump as well though.

So the car is launching 8:45pm tonight and testing at 9pm. Will be a long day of work to get through!

If there were one team that I'd like to see haul themselves up this year it would be Williams. Might quiet some of the naysayers with regards to their driver lineup.

Can't wait. I hope they have a decent package this year. Undoubtedly they'll be better off without having to worry about the EBD. And on top of that the new Renault engine.

The Renault should at least allow for much tighter engine bodywork than last year

All Williams fans should try and get hold of the latest copy of Motorsport magazine. Some great stories in there, interviews with Patrick Head etc and a feature on the legendary FW14B

There's a great bit in there where Patrick Head tells a story about a phone call with Frank (to show Franks competitive spirit) explaining that one day one of them will get a phone call to say that the other one has died. After a slight pause Frank pipes back with "I rather hope it's me getting the phone call Patrick..."

I like them for the most part, not sure they needed white stitching on the sponsors, it would look better if they wrote their names directly in white...

Funny quote from Frank :rotfl:

All sponsors in light blue, yet the main color ist dark blue.
Last years livery in light blue would have been so lovely :(

Absolutely tiny at the rear.

Quite a big bump, dark colour hides it a bit.

Is it just a trick of the light making the nose hump look slightly convex in some shots?

Not enough red at the front yet IMO. The 'step' looks like Ferrari's.

The rear wing doesn't have a middle support, the exhausts are low... the nose is weird...
