Very impressive from Pastor! The guy has shown he has good speed from last year by qualifying in Q3 constantly. Terrible from Senna...

At least congratulate him before saying that! Pastor to lead at turn 1!

I'm still (happily) in shock!

Obviously well done, great drive

Maldo was awesome and Bruno fu... big time :( Just a miracle in the race to Bruno get into top 10 tomorrow. If Maldo can keep it calm maybe a podium it's a possibility.
I've should stayed at bed this morning... :( :(

I was tempted to write "typical" Maldonado, after all the comments last year čśŐ

What new parts are on the car then, do they have the new exhaust?

On the tire saving front, Pastor is the only guy who has 3 brand new primes, in q1 he went straight for options.

The guys around him have used all their options (1 set twice) and one prime.

Rear wing(including new endplates), the monkey seat is finally being raced, maybe floor...

Exhaust is the old one.

So angry at Senna!

worst possible thing to do with Frank there, especially with Bottas consistently putting in fast laps in Free Practise

only a matter of time......

Wow, impressive!!! Hopping Maldonado has a clean race and get a podium finish.

and let's see if Bruno can get a 9 or 10 place at least.

Extremly enjoyable to see Williams and Maldonado on the front-row!
I actually take more satisfaction out of this, than H├╝lkenbergs pole in Interlagos '10.

Till what? He has 14 more points than Pastor already this season. Get real.

As for Pastor, I'm just going to look smug at all those who've slagged him off over the last year Posted Image

Same here, especially because today a have hope they can hold their position, different from Hulks pole that was completely circumstantial.

True, this was genuine performance, Interlagos was a fluke due to adapting better to the conditions.

Oh yes, Hulk's pole was due to the car being phenomenal in the wet that day and being the last to cross the line on a drying track. This was just a stellar lap from Pastor.

Great lap from Pastor and genuine pace too, all through qually. I'm slowly turning from a disbeliever into a fan of the guy, not only is he fast but he's quite a ballsy racer too.

I have to say I have been warming to him to an extent since the end of last year. I didn't think he warranted a place in F1 and without the cash, his place will remain in doubt. He wasn't impressive early last year but around Singapore time, he was outracing Rubens regularly.

He clearly has pace but he's also a very rough diamond as per some of his moves. His pace is unsurprising but if he binned it at turn one tomorrow, it would be just as unsurprising.

As they say, having pace with reliability problems is better than bullet proof reliability but no pace.

Really hoping for a great race tomorrow, would be phenomenal if Pastor manages to do a good start and drive in front, but that will be very difficult with Hamilton and especially Alonso, who has great starts).

Their last performance pole must have been 04?

Oh well, didn't really want it this way but If Pastor gets a decent start, with the pace he showed in qually, he's got a real chance of a victory here, damned hard circuit to pass on.

Was Sam sent to McLaren as a Deep Throat? if so he's doing a better job at that than he ever did as a designer.....

Hahaha, Sam Michael has his mission completed :D Marvelous Williams, Frank deserved it. Big congrats for true Williams fans, this is your day :cat:

How this FW34 can be so bloody fast around there? From friday times it's seems that they will be right up there. Maybe a bit slower than Lotuses but....who knows what tomorrow can bring

And this one was "idiot" assisted, but still they had P2 pace in it - even as a McLaren fan, well done to Williams - I really hope they can win tomorrow.

Yes, yes it was only a matter of time before Michael started to work his 'magic' at Macca. Congrats to Sir Frank, thoroughly deserved and a nicer man you will not meet.

Pole for Williams!!! This must be the first in 6-7 years?

My question is.....
Will the pole really be attributed to Williams and Pastor ?
Or do they only get the race position....... and the 'english' driver still get the statistic ?

To last on the grid is very harsh, still will be great to see Williams starting from pole. Hopefully can remain ahead of Alonso at the start. Race pace seems good.

He was DSQ, so no, he doesn't get the pole.

I think in the case of a grid drop they keep it but he was disqualified so his time is essentially removed leaving Maldonado's time the fastest so it should be Maldonado's. Certainly is on wikipedia, though that doesn't mean a huge amount

Great job. If not for Hulk's freak pole in 2010(I believe?), this would have been their best quali result in quite a while.

Still.....I'm writing a hate letter right now in case Maldonado messes up Alonso at the start tomorrow. :p

Well done! Congrats to Pastor and the team!!

Shame Bruno had problems, maybe he could be in top 5.

As the Williams has showed good race pace, maybe a podium tomorrow is possible

Anyway, the team needs to score points.
