I think they can have a decent race from where they are, provided the first lap goes ok. Race pace seemed very good.

Not going to get to watch the race and just discovered I now can't listen on the radio as it is on five live extra :/

Annoyed now.

Let's hope they don't start both drivers with the same tyres again. As they're on the same row do a split strategy with Senna starting on softs and Maldonado on super-softs.

Luck and safety cars are what we need to score points

No, we need our drivers not to have any crashes.

The car has the pace to get into top10 without any special events even from further down the grid, like Pastor was going to finish about 5-7th place in Bahrain after starting from the very back of the field. It's Canada, not Monaco, if we have the pace, we can overtake and it seems we actually have the pace.

safety car will decide the race! hopefully it benefits one or both of the williams if they don't run into each other or any body else!

Williams was third slowest through the speed traps yesterday. :( Only Mercs and RedBulls were slower.

That would be the smart thing to do.

Which tyres would you give each driver? I would have thought maybe Pastor on the supersoft as he's a bit more aggressive, and Senna on the soft.

Edit: Sorry Francesc didn't realise you said the same thing.

I agree.

And if you do that, tell Senna to let him through without any problems, no kids fighting please

Bruno 15th but Pastor 22nd on grid today due to 5-place penalty for gearbox change

THat's bad. What are the odds for Pastor getting stuck behind the Caterhams or De La Rosa? :well:

At least it's a circuit where it's easy to overtake, hence he shouldn't be stuck too much time behind those cars.

At least it's less likely they'll hit each other at T1.

Cue team radio around lap 15.... "Bruno, Pastor is quicker, do you understand?"

Team orders at Williams? Sometimes I think Sir Frank would rather see his drivers take each other out while fighting for position than having them swap places like that.

Changing the gearbox and putting Pastor in the middle of those crappy cars worked so well at Monaco

Why would they do that again?

Just stay out of trouble and the car should have pace to get in the points

At least here they can overtake

am predicting that the safety car will be required when one or other of them bins it in the wall- or drives into an HRT or Marussia halfway round the first lap

Well both drivers showed little pace today. Sauber and Lotus were a second faster for pretty much the entire race. I wonder why? Fuel saving the entire race?

Disappointing day; time to have a serious re-assessment of Bruno and time to think hard about qualifying tactics. European races coming up now so we need to be on a path to regaining some of the form shown earlier this season.

I think Maldonado has done reasonably well, he started from 22nd after all and had hell of a first stint. Senna - frankly, I don't know what is he doing in F1.

Very disappointing race. The team seemed invisible today.

Senna was particularly disappointing. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt prior to the season as he's a likeable chap, but the performance just doesn't appear to be there. I wonder if Williams are considering putting Bottas in the car at some point this year.

Spain seems like a dream now. The team and Pastor need to recapture that form soon. Don't know what's going on.

Yeah, race-pace was shocking after looking so promising in the long-runs in practice! A strange turn-around.
...well, well, Valencia should be atleast slightly better, and I expect a couple of points from that race.

I just hope that Bruno Senna is going through a temporary rough patch as he is my favourite driver. I thought he drove very well in Malaysia and China and I thought he drove well in Monaco and was denied a higher points finish by poor team strategy, he can't become a poor driver overnight. Sergio Perez is an example of a driver who went though a rough patch and has mow come back to form!!

The team needs a clean weekend in Valencia, with both drivers keeping the car out of the walls.

The most that can be said for Canada is that both cars were reliable

I don't think the FW34 is suited to the the Montreal layout, as it has so much more downforce relative to last year. In addition any sort of grid penalty is now a major handicap with the closeness of the present grid. Its going to be n ebb and flow season.

Looking at Canada, i'm thinking the big 3 teams might have made a decisive jump ahead.

Hard to judge what was Williams pace given how much traffic Maldonado had, and that we barely saw him on tv.
The tactic seemed weird, 30 laps on softs 40 on SS but the car reached the end.

A better qualy is key.

True, we saw the car was Q3 capable though as if Maldonado hadn't crashed he was on the cusp of knocking out Button as he was 1 tenth up in the first sector and 1 down in the second according to the commentators.

During FP, it looked as if it was not going to easy, I fear that the developpment pace of big team overwhelmingthe initial advantage that Williams has got in their pocket. Besides, Was not too sure if the new aggressive wing dd what it should be. Starting to feel that next steps are not as easy as it was laid years before. After all there must have had a good enough reason why Patric trusted Sam.
Never the less, I am putitg my belief in technical teams. Hope that next steps will be better.

What role is Alex Wurz doing again, isn't he supposed to be a sort of driver coach this year?

Does that mean that he attends the races or not? Both drivers have under-performed in the last couple of races, this is what he should be looking at

He does attend races, Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports was interviewing him as that pit fire broke out at Barcelona. He does have Le Mans Toyota commitments, presumably that supersede his driver coaching role.

Depends on them sorting qualifying out and the drivers not driving into things.

Hoping that Pastor can fulfil that qualifying promise he's been showing recently. This year is so close that qualifying well can really make a difference if you're not going off-strategy.

Traditionally the team is better at Valencia than Montreal...

I just hope the team can realise the demonstrated potential of the car again, and the drivers do their bit.

The amount of money that is brought by Senna is estimated to be about $15 million per year.

But they also have additional exposure thanks to famous name. And it's possible that hiring Bruno allowed Williams to keep sponsorship from ORIS, which has renewed it's sponsorship deal after announcement about Bruno getting Williams' seat. So all in all, general benefits may be visibly more than just those $15 million brought by Gillette, OGX, Embratel, MRV and Head&Shoulders.

And those ~15 millions are ~12% of Williams' budget.

Great to have Senna.

But IMHO he still need to up his game, he is up paced by Pastor. The FEB question is correct. Only he will keep his seat for this season, IMHO.

BTW I am convinced that the team will show up with good updates. That bended wing, has it worked?

Senna said it might have been better to race with the higher downforce wing, the old one, in order to preserve tyres.

I don't think we'll see the wing again, not for a while. It clearly worked such that they raced with it, but it looks to have held them back. Saving tyres is king, so high rear downforce is essential.

We might see a development of the wing again at Monza, otherwise I can't see much use for it.

Pit stop times appear to be slipping as the season goes on according to James Allen. These can be make or break with how close things are!

From what I know, MJP focus rather on consistency during pit stops, than doing the quickest possible stops.

And I've got an impression that at average, Williams' pit stops are now a bit better than they used to be.

But the fact that they are still lacking pit stop speed comparing to others is different matter. But I guess MJP has nothing to do with that and it is due to that Williams haven't invested that much in special equipment that allow faster pit stops.

Car should be decent around Valencia. Hoping for some decent qualifying and a good race.
