Yeah because there are lots of teams queueing to enter F1  I don't get why some people are so bothered with small teams performance, they are into the 107% right? Let them be and maybe the will grow and remember they entered F1 with the promise of a budget limit, they deserve at least the time to readjust their plans.

I think you didn't get his sarcasm. Afaik, lemec have been supportive of HRT all the time ;)

What I meant to say it that I hope they pass... it would be great to the HRT-02/F112 with some decent mileage under its belt!

The new logo is a gold circle with Olive leaves/wreath on a white background . I know gold must be from the Spanish flag (Blood & Gold) but are there any potential Sponsors, Spanish companies with these symbols in their branding?

We probably have to wait! used Google translate, Golden wreath is Corona Del Oro and image search comes up with crowns, no company logo's nothing,Except Corona Beer which is already sponsoring Perez/Sauber. I guess its just a new design but it doesn't look as if the Cosmic Motor's guy did it.

don't mind as long as some sponsorship on the car.

Ermestel, Varlion and Yamimoto are signed up, so hopefully more to come!

Is the F111 modified with new exhaust layout? I would assume that is one of the useful things you can do with the old car.

Their running last years EBD. Apart from tyre info, there's really little insight one can gain from their times.

"When we arrive in Barcelona with the new car, everything else will be in place so we can fully concentrate on the car.”

This is Toni Cuquerella's comment today. Could mean that the crash test passed.

There are just two modif in the car, the tyres and the driver. That's all.

The goal of these two days is making the team working together and give some miles to Pedro.

Really cool. I grew up near that area in Madrid, despite of what I still think that Oracle´s former facilities at Valencia's Copa America harbour are nicer but ... it's fine they're moving to my home town

The hard and quiet work made at HRT during these last months is starting to finally pay off.

New car will be ready for Barcelona, new home with the idea of moving the design deparment in there at the end of the year...i wonder where those insiders are now.

They will be at the end of the grid but the most important thing is that HRT finally has the right people with a clear picture of what they want to achieve and how to do it.

Yes if this had happened in 2010.. they could have been where Caterham are now with sponsors etc.

I did ask Joe Saward what he thought of the move, its only a good idea if they have loads of cash to throw around was his answer.

Joe's hard to fathom sometimes... you get the idea that he's genuinely interested in what HRT are doing, because no-one else really is, but then he's always so snidey about them...

Another interesting livery this year? Even if they are at the back they can make up with it by providing a bit of colour!

A couple of Joe Saward posts... (this guy needs to give it a break)

Phil R
Any news on how “new” the 2012 car is Joe? Is it still the Dallara?

Joe Saward on February 8, 2012 at 21:51 | Reply
No. As to where it is, let’s see.

What ever other people think, I must say that at least they’re following a plan, they said they wanted a spanish team, with spanish headquarters etc.
Well they are following it so the fact to moving to Caja Magica is logical, another step into that direction….in a few months we’ll see if they’re right or wrong

Joe Saward on February 8, 2012 at 22:22 | Reply
if you can explain why it is logical I would be delighted to hear.

Joe Saward seems to think the new car has failed one of the tests....

Joe Saward
I believe the team has failed one test, which means that it is going to be very hard to have the car ready in time for the planned test. I don’t know the details yet. It will probably depend on which test.

Passing the crash tets is really in the hands of the component suppliers and how soon can they revise the manufacture process if it has failed one of the tests.
On another point I would like to know what happens to the Munich design hub. AfAIK this was set up under Kolles. How many are relocating to Madrid. Ideally HRT are going to need another experienced TD as the present incumbent is a Holzer employee and is just overseeing the completion of the chassis build.

Mainly, yes, that's why all people is quite confident but a failed desing can also lead to fail one test

... AfAIK this was set up under Kolles. ...

Not exactly. The Munich hub, as you say, was set up under Willis and mostly under Paul White. People there was hired by Carabante and after them by Saul Ruiz.

Moving from Munich to Madrid is far away to be a drama even less if preserving your german salary which is common practise in industry when hiring engs across european countries.

More info from Saward:

The HRT team turned up at Jerez this week for the F1 test with an old chassis. That was fine, but it cannot go on forever. The cars are old and there are safety questions about parts that were designed to have certain length of life. It is therefore imperative that the Spanish operation has its new cars ready before the start of the F1 season in Australia on March 18. The team says that it will have the new car running at the first Barcelona test on February 21, but the first monocoque was only delivered on Monday. This had been due to arrive three weeks ago, but there were delays when the team decided to split with Colin Kolles. The cars are being assembled at Holzer Engineering in Augsburg, but before anything else they need to go through the mandatory FIA crash tests. The first of these took place yesterday and I hear that while most of them went well there was a problem with one of the roll hoop tests.

This means that the components must now be redesigned and manufactured in a new specification, and then a new crash test will need to be scheduled. In order to go testing with the new car on February 21, the team must have passed all the crash tests, as there is a new regulation this year to make sure that the machinery used in testing is as safe as the cars that are raced.

There are further tests taking place today, and there is little room for any more problems. This should not be the case as the Austrian composite supplier CarboTech has been building F1 cars for some years and the quality should be good enough. The firm is used by McLaren to make the chassis for its MP4-12C road cars, so it has a very good reputation.

The revamping work will all be done at Holzer and the key to success will be organisation of the different sub-contractors involved. And to some extent that depends of the workloads of the companies involved and their desire to work flat out for their clients. Thus money is also an important element in getting things done on time.
