Just reported on Race Hub that Joey Coulter has signed with KBM in Trucks full-time next season, probably the #18. Funny, considering that it was a post-race love-tap with Coulter last year that got Childress enough riled up to attack Scrub last season. Kinda funny though, at the first quarter of the year, Childress was talking about giving Coulter a full0time NW ride, then it was decided that he was leaving.

We knew that Coulter was leaving RCR, but i expected it to be someone like Turner (replacing Paludo) or Eddie Sharp Racing.

Is there a third Dillon Brother that'll get that #22 seat? :p

Looks like a crucial year for Roush as far as driver lineup. How Stenhouse develops will be key, along with the Edwards team getting it together. Despite flashes of being a true top driver Edwards has historically been plagued by inconsistency and long dry spells following good times, I think this is the 3rd cycle since his rookie year. Biffle has been another prone to ups and downs, had a good long run during the regular season but drifted away during the Chase. I've wondered how much drivers have had to do with them not racking up titles like Hendrick (granted, other teams haven't either). The difference being Roush has had years where they've seemed to have the overall best cars and not wound up with the title.

Furniture/Busch is Childress.

Who jumps without a sponsor. Unless they think they can get/have Budweiser...

Harvick knows the Silver Spoons are on the way and will garner all of "Pop-Pop's" attention.

Stewart - Newman -Harvick should be called team "SuperJerk". At least Tony is an amusing jerk while the other two are just plain jerks.

Sooo. . .is Budweiser a Childress sponsor or a Harvick sponsor? Anywho, kinda shocking but if you remember that Harvick had been the original favorite to get the 39 seat, it makes sense.

Also rumors (via Jayki) that Scott Riggs may get the opportunity to run in a competitive seat again with SHR next season on a partial schedule.

BK Racing has reportedly been granted the #23 for sponsor purposes next year. Allmendinger, Reautimann, and the current drivers (Cassill and Kvapil) are rumored to be in the running for rides next year.

Dr. Pepper's 23 flavors? I believe I noticed them as an associate sponsor last week. Might be moving to a full blown sponsor

Not bad for a team that was thrown together just two weeks prior to the Daytona 500.

And while not a front running team much , they have showed the consistancy to develope a baseline from which they work to improve next year . Much in the manner M Watrip developed his team.

Now that Harvick is going away , will Burton be retained to help "educate" the youngins on the way?
I expect the entire team to struggle til 2016.

Also with Harvick on board if PSP does decide to give up on Nascar, he will be an adquate enough replacement to keep most of the sponsors happy a couple years. However i do expect SHR may develope aging issues relatively quickly as well.

Tony is not a pure jerk in the way Harvick and Newman are. But he will contribute his share of jerkishness to the operation. Should be interesting at least.

And apparently the Truck series is going to Eldora...

Not mega-enthusiastic about stock cars at Mid-O. You need a nimble and powerful car to look spectacular round there. Still if that's where the market is etc.

Sucks for me because I'm not likely to attend, but IMO as a race track Mid-Ohio is a sensible choice.

Montreal was a circus and Trois-Rivieres would have been outright carnage. Apparently Canadian Tire is still pouring money into Mosport and its a safe bet Nationwide will appear there in 2014...

I still think Cup and nationwide should add an additional road course date at a rotating venue each year - could try some new markets and circuits without worries about commitments long-term. Also would show who could adapt quickly.

Instead of road course ringers, there will be dirt oval ringers.

It's a shame Ricky Carmichael couldn't get a ride this season, he's probably ingested more dirt than most of the truckers have raced on.

This would create a scenario where the truck series racers are in fact part of the most diverse series in the USA. And if it works out well there will be no excuse other series cant do it as well if space permits.

Btw how many cars can the Eldora pits handle?

Would be cool if this was actually a trial balloon for a future cup date. Of course with all the touchiness in today's field they'd have to include a massive wrestling ring in the infield. But the ratings would be spectacular.... :D

I doubt there are any dirt venues that put have enough necessities needed for a Cup race. Unless they throw dirt on top of Charlotte or something.

I haven't really decided whether I actually like this or not, it could be a disaster.

Budweiser and Jimmy Johns to follow Harvick to SHR: When #29-Kevin Harvick leaves Richard Childress Racing at the end of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, he will take major sponsors Budweiser and Jimmy Johns along with him. Reports surfaced last week that Harvick will bolt RCR at the conclusion of his current contract to race full-time for Stewart Haas Racing in 2014. Multiple sources speaking on the condition of anonymity say that when the move comes, it will also include the sponsors that backed the #29 team in a combined 26 races this season; 20 for Budweiser and six for Jimmy John's.(Godfather Motorsports)(11-16-2012

Leaving and taking the sponsors along with him? Next year is going to be awkward as hell between Harvick and Childress.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park added to 2013 schedule: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is thrilled to announce that it has been included on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 2013 schedule on Labour Day Weekend (September 1). This will mark the first ever Canadian stop for the truck series. This Labour Day weekend race will also mark the first time in 13 years that a Camping World Truck Series race will take place on a road course. The historic significance of the track in Canada, combined with its thrilling 3.957 km road course makes Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the perfect place to make truck series history. "We at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park are thrilled to be able to bring the Camping World Truck Series to Canadian motorsport fans," said Myles Brandt, President and General Manager of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. "We're looking forward to creating an unforgettable experience for both fans and drivers alike this Labour Day weekend as we mark yet another milestone in the history of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park." "We're excited to announce the addition of a world-class facility like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to our NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule for 2013," said Steve O'Donnell, Senior Vice President of Racing Operations for NASCAR. "We're looking forward to working with Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as we introduce the truck series to our great fans in Canada. Their enthusiastic response to our sport has helped grow its popularity in Canada significantly throughout the years."(Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.com)(11-16-2012)

^Assuming he is still in Trucks, of course. He only has a one-year deal with Turner and he hasn't said anything about what he is going to do next year.

It'll be interesting to see how big the field will be when the date arrives.

Hornish Jr. back with Penske in 2013, to run full-time NNS and some Cup: from a SRT Motorsports - Dodge Roger Penske Open Interview - Homestead-Miami Speedway, one question concerned Ryan Blaney and Penske mentioned plans for Sam Hornish Jr. in 2013:
Q. You mentioned young drivers. What are the plans for Ryan Blaney for next year?
Roger Penske: "Well, right now I know there's some people asking me some questions when I walked in. We've signed Sam up to drive the #12 car, Alliance car in Nationwide next year. We have a commitment for a number of Cup races on a third car, which Sam will be there to run those races. And Blaney at this point, we're considering him to be -- to drive the truck. Haven't announced it yet. It's not a done deal. But we'd like to see him in the truck, and also we'll provide him some Nationwide rides. We started with him maybe running two or three this year, and I think he'll end up with seven or eight. We think that he's a fine young man, and he's got a lot to learn like they all do, but I think he's certainly coming from a family that's been racing, and he seems to have the talent. There's a lot of good young talent out there today, so we certainly want to support him."(SRT/Dodge/RAM Motorsports PR)(11-16-2012)
