I am going to get over to Nth Korea at some stage next year (when I get finally the car underway) to have a gander and today received this from the tour agency and thought the technical minded may be interested to see the factory tours on offer ...

As I see it it's great to see this as another very small step to DPK opening up - for those who don't know you can actually drive your own car into a limited area now from China.

Quite probable, dog meat is common and I'm presuming the dog wasn't still attached...

I have had pig's balls but wasn't told till after the fact (not the first time either for various other delicacies including toad the other night) - highly recommend them but will pass next time ......

I went with Koryo Tours in 2007, it is a remarkable trip to take. No factories (other than the science park), that was a cultural tour.

I was quite surprised to see a golf course smack in the middle of the Pyongyang on Google Maps actually, it's on the island on the river.

Here you go.

It's a 9 holer par 3 course, in the grounds of the Yanggakdo Hotel. Not the proper one KJI opened some years back at which an aide said "he doesn't play golf, but we think he would be very good" which got spun into "he went round in 37".

Incidentally, the Yanggakdo is the hotel of choice for foreign tourists (the choice being that of the DPRK tourist bureau). For the simple reason that it's on an island in the river Taedong, so you can't get off for a wander around downtown Pyongyang...

I think that's what's known as a Monarchy Greg, a democracy is where you vote for a grey haired male for PM and end up with a red haired female next time around?!?!

I think that the Australian 'Head of State' is actually Governor General Quentin Bryce (blonde/grey female). Dear Julia is the people's elected leader, with support from various independents and Greens who don't like the Mad Monk, but then again who does? (or are my personal dislikes showing?).

Well I guess he did refer to Australia rather than "Australia and its States and Territories", but the 'mirror image' between the Federal and Tasmanian governments at present is uncanny! (red haired female 'leaders' in both), backstabbing 'supportive' males (in both), inefficient and popularist opposition (in both) = a political desert. What hope do we have? :confused:
