Is this Ferrari 002? The one with the questionable history?
It's 002. Most refer to it as 002C there are no questions about it's history or providence. We returned it to it's original Turin GP Winning form.
It was rebodied by Motto from SC configuration to a Barchetta in the 50ies and back to SC configuration by Stan Nowack. I bought it at a Pebble Auction drove it for years and recently deceided to restore it in Modena. The current body is by Brandoi with help from Fantuzzi. The mechanical restoration was done by SportAuto. Ferrari Historian Mancel Massini has confirmed it's history and providence. It still has it's Tipo 159 stampings and is the oldest existing Ferrari. (The car you may be thinking of is "02C")

He is proud to mention Marcel Massini, but everybody a little bit implied in these cars know that the latter is the first one to admit that his knowledge on these early cars is very limited. So it would be great to know what history and providence did he confirm, or what is the proof that the car is powered by its original engine. As well as what are the evidences allowing to tell that this car is the oldest existing Ferrari.
Problem is that this owner never replies to such clear questions, and prefers to react with vehemence, and to pass round the matter by reverting the questions. He can say what he wants on Ferrari Chat, where the general knowledge is incredibly poor, but TNF is in another category fortunately.
All is an ego problem, to show what he has and what he makes with it, as it is well shown by the first post of this very thread.
Another interesting thing is while he is always ready to embellish his cars by all means, he never hesitates to sully other people's cars, like for 02C for example. There is nothing wrong with 02C.

The OP is known to be used to over idealize the importance of his cars. Those who followed the 0846 dementia know it too well. Yes, another one in the same league than for the Birdcage or the Commander M8F. Bad faith and arrangements with the facts is utterly disgusting.

02C no longer exists.

Ferrari 159 or Ferrari 166SC ?"
Hi
For years it was referred incorrectly to as 002C it's sister is 004C.
It's COA signed by Mr. Ferrari refers to it as 002 and it's chassis stampings are 002.
It's COA refers to it as a 166 I (For International)
It was the third Ferrari built. Originally it's engine was 159 but it was bored out by Ferrari to 166 before it was sold. It's chassis is 159 as is it's gearbox.
01C and 02C (125)were the first two Ferrari's built but they were scrapped by Ferrari. Some believe that parts of 01C and 02C's chassis were used in cars produced after 002 and 004C and restamped with new different chassis numbers and some don't.
002 is the oldest existing Ferrari with continuous providence from it's COA through all it's owners to the present day.
Cheers

in my file: is correct?
1/2/1948 GP du Général Peron et de la cité de Buenos Aires
n.p Gabriele Besana 159 SC "002C" #22
The date I have for it's first race in SA by Besana is Jan 22, 1948 in Buenos Aires.
When Gabriele Besana bought 002 on December 30th 1947 from Ferrari (COA #3) it's engine had been bored out to 166 by Ferrari.
002 was featured on the cover of Ferrar's first promotional brochure published in December 1947.

Maranello looks rather like Sutton doesn't it-very disapointing...
Edit: Can anybody tell me how that finish is achieved on the dash board?
