Obviously there is autcourse, very expensive now. Barrie Gill edited the John playeryearbooks 1972-1976. They as I understand include race reports. Do his international motor racing books for 1977 and 1978 have the same format? The automoblie year books had a lot of racing coverage in those days. Are there any others? Including French and Italian and are any good (I think the French had a a series with the word D'or in them.)

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. Mike Lang's Grand Prix! books comprise brief reports of every race. You'll need Volume 2 which covers 1966 to 1973 and Volume 3 for 1974 to 1980. Or do you want the greater detail of yearbooks?

The International Motor Racing Books were the direct successors to the John Player Yearbooks, although they were in a smaller format and not quite as comprehensive.

Others in English: Motor Racing Year and Grand Prix Guide. The latter was published in Switzerland (1972-74) and IIRC it was the prototype for the Marlboro Grand Prix Guides. There's also Race Report: only the first five were in English though - after that only in German as Rennreport. However, you need deep pockets for those!

Yes Heinz Pruller's reviews in German are not prohibitively expensive.

Whilst the hard copies of 1970s Autocourse annuals are indeed expensive nowadays, the publisher is also starting to release its archive in e-book form at a much lower price. Currently only the 1971 edition is available, but I hope to see more on sale soon.

Received Barrie Gill's reviews looking at 1971 through to 1977 for Christmas. (They are called John Player Motorsport Yearbook 1972,1973,1974,1975,1976 for seasons 71-75 and then International Motor racing 1977 and 1978 for 1976 and 1977)They are good. Race reports are good especially on the entry and practice. Some good features include an excellent '20 to watch' feature in Internatinal motor racing 1978.
