Yep... we can rule out any post tests improvement now. The team will suck at Melbourne :(

I don't know if they will suck or not in Melbourne, but I can assure you Race 1 package is signed off by now, so this departure won't affect it. What will be affected are future updates, from Barcelona onwards.

Line-up for Jerez:

Tuesday - Koba
Wednesday - Checo
Thursday - Checo
Friday - Koba

Nice, Koba will do all systems checks, while Checo will kick off real set-up work . Hopefully he will do better in that department than last year, which was journey into unknown - rookie with rookie race engineer. What is positive that already at this stage of career he's bonding with engineers and mechanics, which, as Jenson or Fernando shows, is extremely important. They have to work their asses off for him and he'll truly show how big talent he has.

edit: As I wrote this, Checo tweeted:

checoperez17 Sergio Perez
La salida de James Key del equipo llega en el peor momento, pero tenemos un gran Equipo y saldremos adelante viene un gran año!!

"Departure of James Key from the team came at the wrong moment, but we have a great team and we will have great year"

Spoken like a true leader. Fantastic words, that's the spirit .

I like your optimism Mastah.

Sauber will have a hard year. Apparently very tight on money, having lost their #1 technical guy, I don't know about others, but they'll have to show they for once can bring a season through right from the start to the end, something which they haven't done since 2008. (2009 and 2010 were quite good towards then end, 2011 was good at the start)

Key's loss is a blow but the 2012 car is fully developed and the 2013 car project start is months away. There may be problems with the updates for this season but then again I think people are overestimating the effect of losing one individual, even if its the TD. Still would be nice to get someone in quick though.

Key was a good guy for Sauber though, turned the team around after losing BMW backing and did a solid job. He will be missed in the long term. Hope the abrupt nature of the news isn't because of something nasty happening in his personal life.

Sauber's financial problems are a worry but then again Lotus, Williams and FI are in the same boat. Don't know about STR.

PS said it would have the dropped nose but it looks very low n the pic..hmm... I'm guessing the rear and front of the car have the grey and red while the middle is pure white.

I wouldn't be shocked if they had Ferrari's nose style and front pull-rod.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Peter Sauber said the car will have a darker appearance. There also seem to be brighter decals on the nose. And lastly, why would you cover the car during a photo shoot?

Interesting that Sauber have gone for a Ferrari style structure with no TD.

That looks like it could be something straight from the early nineties with a mishmash of a livery and sponsor colours without any sort of coordination.

Just been chatting to Kamui Kobayashi. He was as surprised as we were when James Key announced he was leaving Sauber.

Here's to hoping for a good season and a good car. The E20 has given me faith that the C31 may not be as ugly as we expect.

black front and rear ends , its good , it seems that it will be the only major change in liveries in 2012 season , i think no car has acquired major sponsors that they should change the livery them

It looks to me like Sauber are going back to something like their 1993-4 colours, and it also slightly resembles the '98 Tyrrell. That's fine by me. Black and white are very underrated colours.

Second-ugliest after Ferrari, the step doesn't look big, but it seems quite steep

Of course is fake, it's just a shop based on this real picture so we could have an idea of what to expect for tomorrow:

I cant see much but the slope and side pods make it seem like we have a very tight rear end in store.

That was my first thoughts too when I seen it. Unfortunately you can't really tell if there's a step in the front wing.

Sauber never copied Ferrari, they were always independant teams. You you compare bodywork, frontwing, rearwings and etc of both teams throughout the years, you'll see that they were always very different.

That was my first thoughts too when I seen it. Unfortunately you can't really tell if there's a step in the front wing.

The step will be in the nose, not in the front wing.

From the pixelized image, I think the car loos very tight on the back which is good to make the diffuser more efficient. :D

I think the 'black' or dark areas might be the same dark gray color as last year. Instead of black. If it is black it'll still be a great contrast. Especially with the black wheels like McLaren have.

As with the other cars I think it's mostly going to be an evolution with that silly looking new livery and the ugly stepped nose. In technical haven perhaps someone might suggest the black at the rear+RW is for the insulation as they're trying something outrageously adventurous with the exhausts but that probably won't be the case.
