While posting some old programme listings on my Heroes of FF1600 page on Facebook, the name Arnold Glass appeared driving a Double B Race Hire Royale RP24 in a round of the 1980 BARC FF1600 Championship.
He also pedalled a Marlboro liveried McLaren in the Maclean Hunter Open [nee Libre] series later in the 80's, does anyone know anything about the guy as the McLaren was quite a head turner in the paddock at Mallory!

To answer my own question, a Google search threw up this story, it sounds very much like the same man.

oh boy isnt it? I was aware of the Mclaren/Can Am stuff but I had forgotten the Australian business and the boat racing is an added bonus. A proper speed merchant.

Glass was more famous for his off-shore power boat racing then his race car exploits, true champ in that dangerous sport.

John Bruderlin knew him well, built cars and was around in his time...

The other day he mentioned him, the point he made was that Glass had the fastest time ever around Bathurst in a 250F.

Yes, David, I think you mentioned it here previously...

I would never have expected it, but I have on a number of occasions heard people say that the car really suited him.

I saw on another thread that some of the Australian 250F's had 3-litre engines, presumably using 300S components or even complete engines. Was this one of them?
This of course raises the question: do any of the cars currently racing in "Historic" racing have 3-litre lumps?
