Does any one know of a source for Alexander Mirrors, of the "bullet" style cowling variety with a fairly large mirror??

Some of the "Alexander Style" mirrors I've seen are approximately 20% smaller in the cowling and the mirror than the ones I'm trying to match.

I can post the overall dimensions of the ones I'm after...........

Can't help you with sourcing one, but found this one that had been sold on eBay earlier this year. Is this the size you are after?

Page 5 of this catalogue has a wing mirror listed

An interesting range of archive material contained here:

Thanks Alan

That is an interesting archive doco, that mirror from earlier in the year does look to be the same as the pair I'm looking to replicate (they both have 100 mm lenses).

I've got a spare nose for our 1966 vintage open wheeler, the Alexander mirror on the right is one of the pair originally fitted.

I think I may have just what you're after. I'll have to dig through some boxes that are in deep storage in a location a few miles from home though.

Bear with me......

I've been digging, and this is what I unearthed:

The good news is that there's two units, both unused and with mounting base and pad ( although 'shop soiled' ) and there's one original box.
The bad news is that there's no glass ( no actual mirrors ) in both. Presumably broken in storage.

Shouldn't be all that difficult to get some convex mirrors cut for them, I'd have thought? You're welcome to have them, if you want them.

Posted them out to you yesterday, James. Royal Mail's standard no-frills Air Mail. Only slightly faster than walking pace, allegedly...

Let me know when they arrive.

Cheers,
Alan T.

I've mounted both sets on their stalks and respective bodywork now!
