I'm sure Youtube can help us resurrect some memorable ones.

One of my all-time favourite ads was a Castrol GTX one with Leo Geoghegan in his Group E Valiant Charger.
It featured lots of slo-mo shots of the three-wheeling Charger (they did that a lot).
I wish I could find it now.

However, on a similar Australian touring car theme, I stumbled across this one:

Those who remember will smile at the end when the voice-over commentator makes the 'witches hats' quip.
This Ford ad was part parody of a GMH (General Motors Holden)
ad with Peter Brock driving their latest model.

Despite the fashionable blonde hairdo, I'd have to rate 'Miss Motor Sport' as a bit on the plain side.

Many many years ago there was a Timex ad that featured a watch strapped onto one of the front shock absorbers (or similar location) of a trials car. The trials car did what trials cars do and the Timex watch still kept going through mud, water, up hill and down dale.

Ah, so it seems that it is humour that makes ads memorable for forum members!

I recall there were a whole series of these TV commercials featuring a true champion (RIP) and.....the guy* in the Shell overalls, haming it up as they often did off-screen, too.

*Anorak point: that second racer was one of the 'witches' hats' in video on my first post.

Some natty singing here from a Honda fan...

Looks to be largely filmed in NZ, but there are a couple of significant escapees from the Honda museum in the clip.

Dickson, journey man with some money who did drive a lot of Holdens around that period. He did seem to be an honest midfielder.

"It's an Equitable life Henry" Or it was before the Insurance Company of that name found that it coulde not meet it's responsibilities.
TR3 in the pits was the theme of the advert.

Enzo in a Goodyear tire commercial

And possibly the best TV ad with a motorsport theme ever.

I'm not looking at any You Tube stuff, so I'm guessing Dickson is in a Ford ad?

It would mostly be his ability to talk up a deal that got him there, I'd say. He conjured up some good deals in his day, it would not surprise me that he got Ford to ante up a lot of gear for his Pioneer Falcon.

He also had a respectable crew at that time, led by Bruce Richardson.
