I was reffering to virgin putting in 30m when they were the title sponsor

When did they do that? Virgin bought majority of the sharehold in 2009, but after that they don't seem to have financed the team.

looks a lot like a gp2 car. Also looks like a filming day for Qnet, judging by the trackside branding...

Reminds me of the Arden GP2 car from the mid 2000's.

Not a massive fan of a paint job, perhaps too much red and not enough black. But the car itself looks great, a de facto second in the beauty competition, so it deserves to do well.

Also noticed that it has a very similar airbox intake to the championship-winning Renault R26, a car also influenced by Pat Symonds.

How much money QNet sponsor for the team? I make a quick investigation in internet and found out that QNet is a direct selling company. The company has also been accused of operating a product-based pyramid scheme and their operation has been shut down at Iran and Indonesia and under investigation in several country(wikipedia). The company sell typical direct selling product (health supplement, vacation packages, jewellery, energy enhancement). Hope this company not a fraud like SS United to Super Aguri.

Agree on the paint job, looks a bit half assed and dull, more black with day glow red stripes along the nose/sidepods would look pretty killer i think, maybe some white outlining to make it really pop, either way the colours have potential, shame.

Marrusia are thinking out of the box. Prost won 4 wdc's, so they thought lets hire a French driver and have a big nose. :)

I quite like it. Now if they could get rid of the Cosworth engine, maybe they'll be able to get anywhere.

Looks a bit like they couldn't decide between a deep, dark red and a bright, eye-catching orange. Not a bad looking car by any stretch, though.

Quite a boring car, both livery & shape. Nothing special.

Sidepods look like a fat mercedes a little bit. agree about the livery, looks sub par to last year, but a little better than most of the grid....

A lot of roll in the car on that shot as well...

It looks tonnes more packaged at the back compared to the last car. Not so much to the rest of the field, but it's looking nipped in. Same goes for the HRT, is that to do with the deal they have with Wiliams?

Nose looks much cleaner. I wonder how the fundamentals they got wrong will be affected this year? I hope this gets them closer to the 2-3 second mark I was hoping they would achieve by this year!

I'm dreading how the car will run in anger, based on the last 2 years of HRT turning up late and the fumbled FW in Virgin's first running. But i'm confident by the fact that based on using CFD & Wind tunnel testing, plus Pat Symonds designing not Nick Wirth, and the fact that there is the May tests puts faith in me believing this team has the underpinnings it needs now. I would much rather have them understand 2 correlations to their disposal, than turning up last year thinking that the car will work well, only to find (I believe) it couldn't perform so well high speed corners. I'm apprehensively hopeful, they don't have the testing behind it, but there is a big hope it will perform. I believe the designers have been more adventurous to the engineering boundaries (I read on http://www.crash.net..._marussia.html). Here's hoping! I would love a pleasant suprise... healthy for the Championship to have more teams.

No setup will have been completed yet, so the suspension etc. in it's original state.

I'm utterly disappointed. No teams have changed their liveries and I was fully expecting Marussia to do so. I thought they'd go for a dark blue and red livery with a few specks of white thrown in their, considering they're solely owned by Marussia now.

Out of interest do you guys feel the nose and front wing is the Melbourne spec or did they just bolt on what was available for the shakedon. I ask because it looks pretty rudimentary and 30% of your total downforce comes from the front wing alone.

What is rudimentary about it? It has all the elements a 2012 front wing usually has. If you want to see rudimentary, look at the one HRT had in their launch.

Compared to the complex multi element wings run by Merc or even Williams its positively low tech.

The issue of equality for females in the motorsport world is a bit of a non issue for me, if your good enough then your gender is irrelevant. Sadly i think Maria is a case of money & marketing , rather than being good enough.

good decision, brings exposure to the brand and a bit of money too i expect

they would never actually put her in the car if one of the drivers was out for a few races though would they? far better options elsewhere

This is how I feel - F1 doesn't need a female driver, it needs the best drivers. If one of them is a female, that would be great.

Marussia are hardly the first team to take a reserve driver for publicity/cash so that doesn't rile me up too much to be honest. What will annoy me however is how some journalists will inevitably try to dress it up as a good thing for F1 and gender equality and whatnot when it's the exact opposite. Having someone in F1 who's crap regardless of their gender is hardly going to make it any easier for other female drivers to get their foot in the door.

Yes, and not content with it she spent all winter saying to the spanish media how close she was to joining the (new) Lotus F1 Team and how she loved to work with Kimi. Given all the silence I assumed she had finally dropped the dream.

Well done to her, but I suspect that's the furthest she will go, cant see this team risking a expensive car in FP1.

This will certainly look odd on the «Young Driver» part of the young drivers test, but hey, we should all know once and for all how fast she is.

This.

Sorry but no female will be taken seriously in F1: it's a man sport as it is very physical.
