There were two Cunningham C-4Rs entered at Reims in 1954. Race numbers were 5 & 6. Driver pairings were Cunningham/Johnston and Fitch/Walters. Can anyone tell me how the two cars placed and which team ran under which race number.

Many thanks.

The results are on Martin Krejčí's WSRP site, but he doesn't have the race numbers:

This page gives some information...though I'm not sure how Sherwood Johnston could have been racing in France and Nebraska on the same weekend:

Cabianca,

the (wonderful) book: Reims , vitesse, champagne et passion tells us:

car #5 (Cunningham /Johnston) 4th in practice, 5th oa in the race.
car #6 (Walter /Fitch ) 5th in practice, 6th oa in the race.

Even a small (frontal) shot of both cars (#5 and #6) in the pits...

Best regards Michael

Many thanks, Michael,
I have the picture of the two cars in the pits and the details (only one has a headrest) allow one to identify which car is which. Now you've allowed me to complete the puzzle.

Results mentioned here confirmed in Michel Bollee's book : Les 12 Heures De Reims , with a pit picture.
