Can anyone out there tell me when noted surgeon Dr. Art Ting reconstructed Mick Doohan's leg?? How long of a recovery time did Mick have after the Ting surgery and did he go back to racing after that. Thanks in advance.

hi mike, all i remember of it was ting did the work after the 99 crash for the spanish gp.

i remember him saying at the time that mick should have been killed in the crash, he gave a time of around 6-8 months for recovery in which time mick wore that horrible looking leg brace which had to adjusted to keep his leg straight.

mick never raced again after that, the 92 crash and that one he had in 99 he said he was playing the law of averages and stopped.

I took this picture of Mick in the paddock of the 2000 Australian F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne - so that was almost a year after his Jerez accident, he was still on crutches ( you can just see one behind his folded arms ) , holding his foot up so as not to rest on it, and was in visible disconfort .
