Good start for Collard and WSR. Glad Onslow-Cole beat Plato at the line too after what Jason did to Newsham.

Exciting racing overall. Looking forward to race 2

Unique donuts from Collard

Yes he is.

Wow. I never knew that "awesome" meant shouty, ill-informed, and dull. Well, every day's a school day...

Plato still an utter Cockwhisk. I hope one of the young guns takes him out next time. hard.

Moody average. Though he may grow on me.

And ten points for the idiot at the back (thorne?) for managing to be worse than John George. Amazing.

Now that everyone has 2l turbo's what's the reasoning between different boost levels? Is it purely one level for NGTC and a higher level for the s2000 chassis with NGTC engine (opposite to last year where the NGTC had higher boost levels) , or is it going to vary team to team?

1st race was amateur hour, one car binned at the first corner, chasing car forced on the grass at the second, which ended in an impact, 15 laps later and Plato does the only thing he knows.. thats without mentioning Thorne spinning under the SC..

BTCC certainly isn't what it used to be :(

Plato, you drove diagonally across the grass to hit him, if Newsham gave him enough room to avoid that he'd be in the ****ing gravel anyway.

I'm a bit of a Plato fan but that was shocking from him! I know they don't punish for these things in the BTCC but it's quite crazy that he can just get away with that.

Plato is part of the reason noone watches BTCC anymore. I'm off out now, he can continue to play bumper cars for all I care.

And John Thorne racing? Is that John Thorne as in the Thorney motorsport guy? Oh dear BTCC. It really is a series for tits now.

Iv'e never heard of the guy, am I to assume that his day so far is a decent indication of his usual performance?

I don't know who John Thorne is but I question if he should be racing, having spun twice under yellow flag conditions.

That race was shaping up quite nicely. Much cleaner than the first. But what happened to Foster? Did he hit the tyre barrier at a funny angle? BMW righted. We should be back to green shortly.

Never seen him racing before, from what I've seen he is a nasty character on a number of internet forums, he runs a 'tuning' business (Thorney Motorsport) which has had a lot of complaints and horror stories. He usually threatens to sue the forums any bad stories appear on and generally seems like an utter ****. For some reason Vauxhall seem to like him. He threatened to sue another forum I'm on where a guy had some really bad problems with his Corsa which is how I had heard of him.

First race, first Plato-related controversy. We're off, yay!

Thorney definitely could use one of those Red Nose Day clown noses for cars though!

That was a good race. The Neal/Plato battle was BTCC at it's best. Great jobs by Andrew Jordan and Rob Austin. Incredible recovery from Newsham. We'll have to wait for the reverse grid but he'll surely get a good result in race 3.

I really thought the Golf would be utter left behind this year, that's some good work.

EDIT : And now it's on pole.

Plato v Neal duel without someone being punted off. Cool! Maybe it'll catch on.;)

Bit of comedy marshalling there in the first race though. Thought Arron Smith was going to get in there and do it himself at one point!

Not sure what was going on there. Marshals did a great job to right Foster's car quickly though.

Nothing wrong with John Thorne, the problems have come from idiots that expect far too much than what they paid for and also morons that don't heed the advice given about running a car that has been heavily modified, ya can please some of the people some of the time and none of the chavs all of the time.

Plato really is a fool, a nasty self absorbed person.

Nothing.

I see the Cilos are up to their usual group crash tricks then :drunk:

Far as John Thorne goes, he's an ex-IT geek that opened this "tuning" shop, haven't been around the scene for a few years but I've seen first hand a car he "tuned" detting on the rollers, he started offering warranties for his "tuned" cars, but seemingly always had a reason not to pay out. There are constant rumours he's bankrupt/broke and him being investigated for fraud and have been for just about as long as I can remember. There was also a strange episode where he had some cars nicked.
I believe there is money in the family.

Not sure about Vauxhall loving him, can remember some amount of conflict between the two parties at times.

Either way I think he's embarrassing himself. I was told that he approached Triple 8 some years ago to run a team under his name, I think they thought better of it.

Only watched the 1st race but its seemed amateur hour, so many silly collisions it was worse than the sim races I compete in :/

Plato's incident was a joke how they allow that I do not understand, no room goes in at an angle and punts the other car off at high speed.

The commentators kept saying how it was so exciting, but it just seemed poor driving from what I could see (unless smacking in to other cars with little care and driving round under safety cars = exciting I am a little confused)

A couple of years too late; the next generation of drivers thinking then can just turn in have already been bred and brought into the BTCC.

Druids now a car park. Red flag. Replay's show Matt Jackson probably dropped all his oil on the track. Don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

So. What are the red flag rules in BTCC? Anything unusual we need to know? I'm guessing standing start with remaining cars in the order they were at the last complete lap?

Yeah, so anyone caught up in the last lap accidents can restart if they can get the car to the grid, but I think they lose their grid position - i.e. they start from the back.

It's just as well the Formula Renaults aren't running today, given the number of incidents and stoppages that have occurred.

And the pantomime villian wins. Great races from Newsham and Shedden.

Moody and Harvey were fantastic in the box.
