I've found reliable sources about the correct spelling of the surname of Sergio Der Stepanian, the Italian driver who was killed in practice for the 1958 Targa Florio.

It was definitely Der Stepanian (his family was of Armenian origins). Sergio Der Stepanian was from Turin, his father was the founder of a very famous yoghurt business, probably the first yoghurt company in Italy, established in 1913.

The form Der Stephanian which is used (and transfered ) by countless websites, magazines, books, etc. is INCORRECT.
