As you'll note from this interview with Paul McGann, it seems to explore some of the less well-known aspects of motoring history:

The first episode will be "Speed" and according to radiotimes.com it "begins by delving into the history of motor racing, exploring drivers' and manufacturers' obsession with speed throughout the decades ..."
Not much detail about the subsequent episodes apart from the fact that there's something on Land Rovers:

Note that this channel is only available on satellite though, so those who only have terrestrial or cable won't be able to see it (legally, anyway).

As part of Sky's launch of their F1 coverage - Sky Sports F1 is already running trailers on channel 408 ahead of its official launch on March 9th - there's also a new four-part prime-time series starting on Sky Atlantic at 8pm on March 15th. Fronted by Paul McGann, it's described as an "alternative history of British motoring", in which he says "I often end up in a scary fast car whizzing around".

He was certainly being filmed dressed in period costume and goggles repeatedly driving a Bentley at full chat up the Brooklands Test Hill at the VSCC Driving Tests earlier this year. Rather splendidly, he attracted almost no notice from the assembled crowd (good for such a cold day!) of competitors and spectators.
