He'll always be remembered for being a big part of Donington but was also, I believe, a Journalist in earlier years plus sat alongside James Hunt to win the 73 Avon Tour of Britian.
RIP Robert

I have often wondered about his 1973 victory in the Avon Tour with Master James - I bet they are having a right laugh now about it all up there. I don't think a lot was written about it at the time, unless I am mistaken.
I expect Messrs Taylor and Tirchmarsh will, hopefully, share their thoughts. How very sad.

Robert was a very clever boy indeed, and hugely talented. What a loss to motorsport.

The first time we met was when I was introduced to him in the old bus at Aintree by our esteemed thread-starter.
The last time was in the cafe at Donington a couple of years ago; he got worse, rather than better, I am pleased to report.
