Mario was a smashing fellow who owned (an Alfa dealership -surprise in Sparkhill ,Birmingham).
He was a big friend of Teddy Yipp ,Sid Taylor ,Mo Nunn,Jack Kally and many others includig Geoff Lees .
Alfa Romeo broke him with their stupid 1980s Corporate identity binge just as interest rates were sky high
when they made him spend a fortune on his ex-cinema premises , holding massive overstock of new stuff.
I used to visit him on Alfa service business every month until Fiat took over and tipped out all the Alfa staff
that had a mind of their own.
He suffered a brain tumour ,was cured and went to live in Ireland ,where he died some years later
In his younger days ,he was in the Italian Navy and also had raced motorcycles in Italy.
He actually prepared the Aurora cars in his garage in a beautifully tiled workshop .
He leaves a Son Mario who works in BTCC

Mario Deliotti was a charming man with high engineering standards and a delight to be with. In the early 80s
I ran a turbodelta Alfetta in the AROC series,Mario`s willingness to help and technical support is a good memory,
as was the "Mario Deliotti Race weekend at Mallory Park"! He deserved more. rkl

A name mentioned in connection with Mario was Jack Kallay of Hi-line car Stripes, he was a big supporter of British drivers in the late 1970's particularly Geoff Less also Stephen South in 1978, what's he up these days ?

Jack Kallay is fit and well and living in retirement in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. Pictured here at Sid Taylor's restaurant in Birmingham some 12 months ago, Jack is virtually unrecognisable as he is half the man he used to be back in his racing days due to gastric band surgery some years ago.
