Future F1 Pools Hall of Famer dnbn dominates qualifying and wins the season opener in a rather commanding fashion. Behind him, Costaz and defending champion scheivlak tie in second place. Congrats!

OK, seriously, and I know you weren't asking for an explanation, I think it might in general be a good idea for me to post what I've used as correct answers so everyone can compare and point out possible mistakes.

For round 1, the correct answers were 22X 212 X11 1X2. Those should be fairly obvious, I think.

I'm using my carp internet connection today so I'm afraid we're going to have to do with a fairly bare-bones version of round 2 results. Like this:

Correct answers this time around were "221 X12 XXX XX2". And the person who got closest to perfection, again, was dnbn who continued his winning ways from Australia and netted another solid first-place finish in Malaysia. Polesitter Makarias put up a good fight but eventually had to make do with the runner-up honours. shays completed the podium trio. Congrats!

Overall, this seemed like an easier round and lots of people scored lots of points. Here are the full results:

I've been temporarily re-united with my slightly less useless internet connection so I decided to make full use of this golden opportunity and post some missing game results. I'll start with Spain:

dnbn and Brawn BGP 001 go tooth and nail at it but, in the end, it's dnbn who racks up his third (!) win of the season. Third place is a tie between Dispenser89 and yours truly. Thus ends my rather impressive pointless streak and I'm finally on the scoreboard with the rest of you lot. Woohoo!

Some of us are back to our pointless ways following a leasurely Sunday drive around the principality. We probably thought the race was next week or something... And what the heck, while I'm at it, here's one more for the road: Canada where a titanic battle ensues between three of the game's bigger names. In the end, scheivlak and Dispenser89 manage to find a way past polesitter fisichella_2001. Photo finishes are nice and we here at F1 Pools headquarters don't care for tiebreakers so those two are the joint winners of round 7. Congrats! Impressively enough, this is scheivlak's second consecutive win and Dispenser89's third consecutive podium finish.

And there's more! Shockingly, I've managed to calculate the overall standings as well. If you've been keeping up with my sporadic scorekeeping, it should come as no surprise that this season has developed into a two-horse race between dnbn and scheivlak, two of F1 Pools Hall of Famers. Between the two of them, they've won 11 out of the 17 GPs contested so far. That basically leaves table scraps for the rest of us so it's no wonder the duo has separated themselves from the rest of the field in the points standings. dnbn heads into Abu Dhabi with a less-than-comfy 12(ish)-point lead. Behind the dynamic duo, dank has a fairly decent claim to the third place. Here are the full standings:

Basically, what that means is that scheivlak inches closer and closer to dnbn whose championship lead is a not-quite-secure 5ish points as we approach the penultimate race of the season in the great state of Texas.

OK, that produced some funny looking championship points hauls but that's what happens when you have a five-way tie for the seventh place...

As for the championship standings... Leader of the pack dnbn records a rare non-points-scoring finish which gives scheivlak, his only championship rival left, a golden opportunity to go for the kill. Alas, it doesn't quite work out - not completely - but those funny-looking 2.6 points mean that, with one more round to go, the top two are separated by a grand total of 2.82 points. Vettel vs. Alonso has nothing on this showdown!

If I wasn't so lazy and tired, and, more importantly, if it wasn't stupid o'clock here, I'd post the full championship standings. But I am and it is, so I'll leave that to later today when I'm hopefully half-awake again. Until then, let's try to live with the no doubt unbearable suspense. Nighty night!

dnbn enjoys an ever-so-narrow championship lead over runner-up scheivlak. The rest of the field has been out of the title fight for a while now and dank, as the best of the bunch, has already secured his third place in the final standings. Costaz looks good(ish) for the fourth place but beyond that, it's anyone's guess.

Remember me? It's kismet, possibly the most ruthlessly inefficient game host on Earth. At the very least, I'm in a league of my own on this board.

Not that it's an excuse for the delay but I haven't been around much lately. Heck, I think - actually, I know - this has been the longest I've been off-board since the first time I stumbled on this place a decade or so ago.

And what does this all mean in terms of championship standings? It means that status quo remains and dnbn adds yet another F1 Pools title to his already impressive CV. Congrats! scheivlak put up a good fight but eventually had to settle for the second place. dank had already secured his third-place finish and, as had seemed likely, Costaz held on to his fourth plaze.
