No....it was definitely the Saturday, so it was the 27th June.
The mix must have been for another reason, because my next clip is all series production.

Greg, am I ever ashamed of you!
Friday, long circuit at Warwick Farm? Tintops?
Lynton, you know you'll need to put that Series Production link up in another place, don't you?

Speaking of Series Production, I am interested in any info about a Burgundy Mini Cooper S that may have been raced at the Sydney circuits.
Would that be the very same Mini that is undergoing one of the longest restorations in automotive history? Just asking?

Not very wrong...
It is a McLaren, it's the colour of Matich's and it is an M10B. But Lynton's leaning is to film and photograph Niel Allen more than Frank Matich, so I don't think Matich appears at all in that clip. Unless it's fleetingly right at the end of the right hander in the esses segment.
You are also right that Matich was involved in a crash the following day. Allen's harmonic balancer came off and severed a brake line as he downshifted braking for Creek, there's a great photo of this actual incident in our F5000 book.

Yep, that's the one. I did some work on it yesterday, I threw out the cardboard boxes that were piling up on the roof.Would that be the very same Mini that is undergoing one of the longest restorations in automotive history? Just asking?

I have only been working on it since 1982. You can't rush these things.

The Cooper S you are talking about I think was raced by a young lady.
Cannot remember her name at the moment.
It was a family affair and the only thing I can remember was the driver was extremely shy.
NOT like her mother she was a real worry!!
Back when fire resistant underwear first came in fire marshals used to do a random check.
Discretion used of course.
It was I think at Warwick Farm we did a check and this girl pulled up the sleeve of her driving suit for the inspection.
Not good enough for Mum.
She had a very loud voice and her comments were along the line of.
"Better check further boys she is probably wearing nylon panties."
The poor girl near crawled into the footwell.
It was no Chris Cole or Carol O'Shannessy but as said before the name escapes me.
Cheers.
Roger.

That name rings a very slight bell.
From memory she was quite tall and had short blonde hair.
She was a mid fielder not in the top ten or so.
Just raced for the fun of it I think.
Scratching to think back near 40 years!!
But as said before Mum was the real worry.
Lovely lady but gave her daughter a bit of stick.
Cheers.
Roger.

When I pulled it apart it shows all the signs of being a race car but I have no actual history. It has had signs of a fire extinguisher, tacho, bonnet strap, blue printed motor, lock wired sump plug and probably a couple of other bits I have forgotten.
The car has lots of little dings in the rear corners, it had had a decent hit in the front right corner, a little hit in the left side and door. The repairs look like race car repairs, sort of quick tidy it up and get it back on track next week sort of repairs.
It had a "Geoghegan Sporty Cars" sticker on the rear window when I got it.
Car was built burgundy but had the roof painted white sometime later.
