Apparently they've received some massive waivers but then again that applies for the most of the grid anyways now. It's still gonna be great seeing them

I'm a bit confused, I thought they didn't make Vipers anymore?

I thought they wouldn't want cars not in production or doesn't matter?

Like Sonny said, they got some waivers to race their car.

I think it'll be more of the Lamborghini teams that ran in the mid-2000's. Didn't post a result worthy of memory. Added they have an average driver lineup, but I hope they can do something.

But wish the team, same can be said about BMW also, would join the WEC. ALMS doesn't hold much meaning anymore with the WEC in place.

What a 'meh' driver line-up.

Disagree about the last part of last line... and Viper, just like vette, wants to race in US as it is the market area. ALMS campaign is the logical choice

There will be fifth gen SRT Vipers on the production car line. The biggest actual waiver for the car is the engine as it will be allowed to run with 8,4l V10, which of course is a bit ridiculous seeing as Corvette was forced to move to 5,5L maximum like everybody else after 2009... also even with appropriate air restrictors that package will still have an extra advantage. But as I said, everybody has waivers and BoP nowadays so that's just the way it is, and it's still not close to GT3 levels thank god

Somehow, they've done the impossible and it looks even better than the previous model. No doubt it will sound even better too. What a fantastic day for fans of sportscar racing.

I have to admit I love Vipers. They're for people who like to go around tracks fast, and they're not for impressing people with fancy badges. Also, they're actually light with giant naturally aspirated engine. Can't stand these AWD, twin turbo, multi thousand kg tanks that seem to be becoming the trend in supercars these days.

Actually, I really dislike the sound of prior Vipers. I'm really hoping this is something they've fixed on the new one. After hearing the M5 V10 and Gallardo, I have learned that there is no excuse for an 8.4L V10 sounding the way Vipers have in the past.

What's refreshing to me at least is that they're announcing the racing program to be starting rather soon (this year!?!), which is good rather than other companies announcing a racing program and milking all the hype whilst in the real world the car takes another two years to hit the track (VW Polo WRC).

It seems like the GT version has been in development in parallel to the road car, which I like.

I seriously first thought the pictures of the racing version were all photoshopped. Been hearing in other places that the car might debut at the Road America ALMS round later this year.

Would be great to have it for Brazilian GT series, but I guess only for next year if so.
This year we'll have some old spec Vipers rolling...
