I am delving into the racing histories of the first BARs and I see the black books say Jacques Villeneuve drove chassis 01 in the opening round of 1999 in Melbourne after which it wasn't used anymore. Now I can't seem to get confirmed by other sources what chassis JV drove in Melbourne that year; anyone knows anything more? Also the 1999 BARs are referred to both as 001 and BAR01 or 01... What was the real type number? Thanks!

Early in 2000 I wrote to the BAR Team enclosing a chassis listing, requesting if it could be checked over by one of their race mechanics and corrected if necessary.
It was returned with 'checked and corrected by Jock Clear as requested', and signed by him.
Australian GP: was confirmed as I had typed:
Jacques Villeneuve BAR 01-3
Ricardo Zonta BAR 01-2
Spare chassis BAR 01-4

And he's dead right, my database at that time (I was working for FOM) used documentation supplied to the FIA by the teams.
