Another Autosportless week trundles by. Six weeks and counting.
October 4th is still the most recent issue that I am in receipt of.
Isn't it great that the last acknowledgement this thread had from anyone from the Digital Product Team was on April 17th. That, from Jim Foster, who I believe has now flown the nest. Thanks for the concern Autosport. Maybe this will get deleted on the pretext that it's inflammatory, maybe I'll even get banned.

The magazine team and our subscriptions bureau both keep an eye on this thread from time to time (and I know that they've been in touch directly with a few posters in this thread and other relevant threads in the Feedback forum), but the best way to make sure that the right people know what problems are happening with your subscription is to E-mail autosport@servicehelpline.co.uk or to use our contact form choosing AUTOSPORT magazine subscriptions from the list of topics.

You can keep them updated both on ongoing issues where the magazine is regularly a day or two late (the more they know about where and when minor delays are taking place, the more pressure they can put on the various postal services who take your magazine on the final leg of its journey) and particular major issues and magazines arriving completely out of time so that they can try to find specific solutions.

I haven't posted in this thread since taking over from Jim as there's not much help that I can offer from a digital point of view other than to remind you that your digital copy of AUTOSPORT should be ready for download shortly after Midnight (UK time) in the early hours of every Thursday morning.

Another triple delivery this morning. October 11th, 18th and 25th issues have arrived at last, 39 days, 32 days and 25 days respectively after the publication date.
There is little doubt that they are being sat on somewhere, the where is what needs to be established. Even the most recent issue has been in the postal system for 25 days which is absurd, other post from the UK takes a week, perfectly acceptable.
I am more than happy, if Haymarket would agree, to pay for or contribute to tracking of the magazines. There must be a solution available which gets me a delivery 7-14 days after publication. I appreciate that shortly, based upon recent conversations, I will be sent two copies by different methods, but surely getting to the crux of the matter is far more important. The costs involved in sending two copies as well as the waste of resource, would be far better employed establishing the guilty party.
I can only reiterate that my local post office are adamant that it is not a local problem. Deliveries of received mail are dispatched within a maximum of 48 hours to the recipient.

I see not much has changed or improved here. My print-subscription ended months ago. In the meantime I am a digital subscriber now, but I have to admit I still miss reading my Autosport in the weekend on paper. :(

Nine months have gone by since this trouble started... Thank god newborn kids aren't delivered this way...

My first delivery of a plain envelope method arrived this morning, issue 15th November.
I can live with that but, what was the envelope size? yep, C3. I can only reiterate from my posting of May 3rd, this,

It seems that putting an A4 Autosport into a C4 padded envelope is too difficult, exclusively, mine arrive in a C3 padded envelope, (324x458mm). The European standard letterbox has an opening 230mm wide to allow the posting of flat A4 sheets in a C4 envelope, (229mm wide), of course, the Autosport envelope becomes undeliverable.
One of the postmen who delivers to my house has agreed that if I am not in, he will leave the envelope stood up in the window and then close the shutter, great. The other though, point blank refuses to do this on the pretext that it may get stolen and that he is not allowed to do so. If I am not in and the second postman is on the round, he will leave me a form which tells me to collect from the post office, neither will try a second time for delivery, if this happens, I have a twenty minute drive and then possibly a forty five minute wait in the post office. It's bloody madness!

I was in when the postman arrived, so was able to take delivery. He did though ring the doorbell complete with the "collect from post office" docket.

Issue 22nd November arrived 6th December.
Issue 29th November arrived 13th December.
Both of these issues arrived in plain envelopes, there is as yet, no sign of an issue supposedly sent in the normal clear plastic envelope.

Is anybody else still having trouble with their print subscription delivery to the Netherlands?

I have been receiving my copy, for the last SEVEN MONTHS (!), between 5 and 9 days late.

Repeated telephone calls and emails between myself and Dovetail Services don't appear to have done anything to solve my delivery problems. I even emailed the Autosport office but after a flurry of activity from Dovetail and being promised an update "shortly" 8 weeks have passed without so much as a "we're still working on it". I mailed again last week and was promised another swift "investigation". I'm not holding my breath.

I have been a subscriber for years. I always used to get my copy on the Saturday or even on the Friday. What the hell happened? Does anyone at Autosport know the service Dovetail provides is rubbish? Does anyone care? Or is this merely a campaign to get rid of either print subscribers or overseas custom?

I'd love to know if anyone from Autosport is actually reading this and can do something, because all of the jiffy bags and white envelopes in the world aren't going to solve this.

Hi LorenzoS,

Various members of the Autosport team read all of the comments in here, and I pass all of the details to our in house subscriptions team as well as to Dovetail (our print subscriptions bureau) where relevant.

You mention that you've been getting your magazines in jiffy bags and white envelopes. This is usually a sign that the bureau are trying different delivery methods - if you're getting the magazine in something other than the usual envelope then it means that we haven't been using the normal way of posting the magazine to you. We have absolutely no desire to lose our overseas subscribers but we're eventually at the mercy of the final leg of the delivery process and if there's no way of posting the magazine that reaches you as quickly as it did in the past then I'm not sure whether our bureau have any other ideas...

One thing that we can offer to all of our print subscribers is full access to the AUTOSPORT+ areas of this site, including the digital edition of the magazine. At least this way you can see the magazine first thing on Thursday morning even if it hasn't yet reached you. You can activate your online access by clicking here. Once you've activated your access, you can visit http://digitalmagazine.autosport.com/ to view the latest issue as well as back issues.

Thanks for the reply. I know all about Autosport+ and the digital magazine but I still prefer reading an actual magazine, that's why I pay for a subscription!

I found out for myself why I'm not getting my copy on time any more. Whoever is responsible for the international delivery contracts chose Sandd in the Netherlands. I telephoned Sandd to find out if they were the problem only to discover they only have two deliveries per week, Tuesday and Friday. Obviously, it is virtually impossible for Royal Mail to get the magazine out to Sandd fast enough for a Friday delivery so the magazine is always either 5 days or 8 days late (if they deliver on time). (As an aside, I shouldn't have had to do all of this digging, someone at Dovetail should have told me this.)

So unless Dovetail/Haymarket (or whoever is finally responsible for these things) changes delivery company in Holland, I'm stuffed. I'll never get my magazine on time.

If only people didn't always choose the cheapest bidder... My copy used to arrive on time when it was delivered by Peer Frederiksen, I guess they were too expensive...

You've got it in one there Lorenzo.
Since earlier this year my copy has been sent in a plain envelope, delivery having been pitiful prior to that. I was regularly getting my copy 10-17 days after the issue date. Whilst not ideal, I could live with it.
At the end of May, beginning of June my subscription came up for renewal, since then the shippers have chosen to revert to the plastic sleeve and once again I'm back to a 4-5 week delivery. It's just not on. I don't see why the hell I have to make countless phone calls to Dovetail Sevices every few months because they unilaterally decide to change the method of my delivery.
The last Autosport that I am in receipt of is the July 11th issue, on Thursday, that will be 5 issues that I still await.

Having read through the thread I'm amazed you're still a subscriber! The Canaries may well be an exceptionally difficult place to deliver to on time but you must have the patience of a saint.

I'm beginning to realize that mailing and 'phoning Dovetail is an exercise in self flagellation! They are very polite but ultimately useless. I don't know whether that is by design or incompetence. I have been promised on multiple occasions that they will get back in touch with info updates but nothing ever happens. All they "appear" to have done is update my subscription from a plastic bag to an envelope or jiffy bag. They even tried to rip me off once, when they double charged my credit card and then offered to send me a UK bankers cheque as compensation. :rotfl: I had to point out that probably wouldn't be much use to me, what with the fact that I live abroad 'n all... and that they do things differently over there...!

I wonder if Haymarket knows how poor Dovetail can be when things go wrong? It isn't the 90% without complaints that determine whether they are any good or not. I found this quote from their website pretty hilarious:

When Dovetail launched it had the simple goal of becoming the finest subscriptions marketing & fulfilment bureau in the UK. This ambition is being realised by the company focus on 'delivering to publishers by delighting their customers'.

Just to keep poor Grayson on his toes and to reassure him that the attack isn't too one sided. Guess what? Today, I have received four Autosports, 25th July, !st August, 8th August and the 15th August. The 18th July has gone AWOL completely, it's probably sunning itself on the Costa del Sol. I still await an answer as to why my Autosport is being sent in a clear plastic envelope which has only started since the renewal of my subscription in June. At least in plain envelopes I was getting them on a fairly regular basis, so why has this changed and by whom. As previously stated, I don't see why I should have to be making umpteen phone calls to Dovetail services to make sure that I speak to Lisa the manager. One is completely wasting ones time speaking to anyone else, every time I phone I ask the person's name which I log along with the time and date, it is nothing unusual to be told just a few days later that the person that I spoke to is merely a figment of my imagination as they do not exist.

Ahh, good old Lisa.... The number of times she has replied with: "I will be sure to further investigate immediately and come back to you with my findings as soon as possible" and yet has never once emailed back with any 'findings'.

You may find contacting someone, *anyone*, above Lisa C. may get you further. Also, try phoning the Dovetail switchboard instead of the Subs number.

Fobbing you off seems to be Dovetail policy.

My poor Lorenzo. You obviously, have had similar experiences to me. Have you ever spoken to someone there who within a week doesn't exist and never did. Lisa is as far as I've got frankly, maybe I should try Dovetail services direct line and see what that brings. And maybe I should bombard Andrew van de Burgt with emails to establish whether he cares.

I doubt if there is any need to bombard Andrew with emails! One was enough to receive a very apologetic and immediate response, he then sent my complaint back down the chain to Dovetail. Trouble is, they then proceeded to do very little with it...

Dovetail are good at filtering phone calls, so you may find it difficult to get passed on to anyone other than Lisa. In the beginning, I tried the trick of asking for the operators name and for the details of the call to be recorded with my account but after the second attempt they refused!

I may try mailing the Autosport office manager again (check the letters page for email addresses), she seemed to know what was going on and actually tried to help, at least as far as she could. Maybe if we both mail in the same week, she might think these aren't isolated incidents?

Just for the record the last three copies have arrived 8 days late!

Realise this thread relates to Belgium, but...

As ever, my UK subs copy has YET AGAIN failed to turn up on Thursday. I'm past the stage of being pissed off now, because I expect it.

Yep, a title showdown weekend and if I am lucky I will get to read the previews Friday night, after two sessions have already taken place.

Great job guys!

Just a reminder that the best way to contact the subs bureau (the guys who actually process and deliver the print subscriptions) is by E-mailing autosport@servicehelpline.co.uk

The only help I can offer on here is a reminder that the digital edition of the magazine is available from Thursday mornings and that you can access it here (free for magazine subscribers):

This is a very late reply, so, sorry for bumping an old thread again. But in answer to your question I have resigned myself to an eternal crap service, it just seems to be the way things are thanks to the recession.

Only a handful of copies arrived on time for the entire 24 months of my last subscription. Dovetail can do nothing to help and are monumentally incompetent. I needed to contact them again with questions about the price I was offered to resubscribe; it took 30 days to get an answer, which didn't make any sense. (A 2 year subscription actually costs *more* than twice a single year sub - wow, what an offer...) At the moment I'm prepared to put up with this sh*t because I still want the magazine; how much longer I will put up with it though I don't know...

Thanks for your response Lorenzo..In my time I avoided the Dovetail company and had always contact to Haymarket directly, very friendly, but as inefficient...

To repeat a sentence from Dovetails webpage:

Delivering to publishers by delighting their customers'.

Maybe they should switch to selling jokes, cheaper by the dozen??

My delivery frequency hasn't changed either. The last Autosports that I have received, together, were issues 8th January 2015 and 29th November 2014! These arrived a week ago last Friday with nothing this week.

It's going from bad to worse. I deliberately waited until I had received the final post delivery of the week before commenting, no post at weekends. Nothing, absolutely nothing since the long awaited diary stickers  issue of 26th February showed up on the 16th March. What's happened, presumably I've been given up on?

That's it now for me, I succumb. I will not make the golden key issued with 50 years of taking Autosport because I'm giving up at 49. My subscription will, this time, not be renewed when it expires in July. No more threats, it's over.

I fully understand you! Never heard the fairy tale of the 'Golden Key'--or was it 'Bernie and the golden keys'?? BTW I started 1964 and stopped in 2013...49 years...

Digital is not as good as print, but you will get used to it!! You have only to engage DOVE to ruin the rest of the dwindelling number of subscribers...

Yep, and the 12th March arrived this morning, 29th April. That's Autosport style preferential treatment circa 2015.

Just have a look at Autosport's record of posting in this thread, proof, if ever it was needed, that nobody particularly cares. The last two posts were August 2013 and November 2014. Is there a premeditated ulterior motive here, rather like some sort of furtive constructive cessation. I think we should be told!

There's no ulterior motive, and it's certainly not proof that no one cares. As I posted many months ago when you asked why the digital team weren't in this thread answering your questions about our printed magazine:

The magazine team and our subscriptions bureau both keep an eye on this thread from time to time (and I know that they've been in touch directly with a few posters in this thread and other relevant threads in the Feedback forum), but the best way to make sure that the right people know what problems are happening with your subscription is to E-mail autosport@servicehelpline.co.uk or to use our contact form choosing AUTOSPORT magazine subscriptions from the list of topics.

I know from your other posts that you've been in touch with our delivery bureau and Autosport's own internal subscriptions team, so I'm not quite sure what further feedback you'd like here on the Website Feedback forum... I can offer you sympathy and a reminder that you can access the digital edition of the magazine elsewhere on this very website, but for any more than that I would need to pass you on to my colleagues on the magazine.

I am prompted to post today because Autosport, believe it or not, asked me of all people to fill in a subscriber satisfaction survey. Terrible error of judgement on their behalf.

So to update, just in case those who receive my filled in survey are abreast of the current situation.

Since the 29th May I have received issues,

21st May,

28th May,

4th June,

11th June.

I now await,

26th March,

2nd April,

9th April,

16th April,

23rd April,

18th June,

25th June,

2nd July

Coincidentally, with the arrival of magazines almost five and six weeks old, came the conclusion of my subscription. My account was closed without notice, surprising as previously I had notification by mail of the impending conclusion. There was no facility to check a date for renewal although I knew from memory that it was imminent. I have, after almost 49 years given up on the physical magazine and subscribed digitally. This at least has the facility to see a renewal date, although I'm interested to see how I shall get on with this as I certainly don't like the idea. My good friend Tuboscocca assured me that it is something that I shall get used to.
Whilst my magazine delivery is no longer an issue, I would still like however, to see the magazines that I have paid for, or at least receive some recompense. The five issues, in a block, from 26th March to the 23rd April inclusive have stii not arrived and I doubt they ever will. I would appreciate Grayson's response to this on these pages please. Hopefully, then, all at Autosport and Mulsanne corner can breathe a sigh of relief in anticipation of my final post on this thread.

Have you been in touch with your regular contacts at Dovetail and our magazine subscriptions team? As you know, I only look after the digital side of Autosport so I can't help with closing off the final issues around your magazine subscription, but I can ask the print team to get in touch with you if you like?

I would appreciate that Grayson, thank you. Under no circumstances am I prepared to phone Dovetail Services again, their customer relations are pathetic. I am sure that calls are logged, so there is likely proof positive of the number of calls that I have made to them, at my own expense I might add, and essentially get nowhere long term. The moment that I stop calling them my delivery has reverted to the plastic sleeve. My calls to them have been upward of 70 since they took over delivery, and that is when the problems started.
The Subscriber satisfaction survey included a question asking whether I wanted anyone from Autosport to contact me, I of course feplied in the affirmative. To date, nothing! I am sure that you will understand my pessimism at believing anyone will ever make contact. Even writing to editors didn't always get a response.

Time to praise the AUTOSPORT subscription service.

On October 14, 2015 I received the issue from October 1, 2015. Unfortunately it was heavily damaged.

I asked for an intact one and got it today.

Thank you very much.
