I recently purchased a book that contained the signed photographic print shown in the scan below. According to the hand-written inscription on the back, it is Jim Cunningham driving an Allard "L" Mercury flat-head at Sebring in 1950. The web site Racing Sports cars shows that this car finished 27th out of 28 starters in the Sam Collier Memorial Sebring Grand Prix of Endurance Six Hours at Sebring in 1950 Link. Cunningham and his co-driver, H.O. Beeler, who also owned the car, managed to complete 38 laps before suffering an engine problem. As you can see, the photo is signed on the front "Hi Dot -- Remember me? - Jim".

I thought folks here might like to see this atmospheric and probably rare image of a simpler time in US racing. Since I have no idea of the copyright ownership, if the photographer who took this shot requests, I will remove it from the web.

Does anyone have any idea who Dot might be?

Was Jim Cunningham related to Briggs Cunningham who had three cars entered in the same event?
