He just out qualified Timo Glock. This man deserves a thread for himself. He might be the next big thing in years to come...
Add to the "outqualified" story: Glock's Twitter Account
Not a great day for me!Again problem from Friday to saturday car didn't feel same. Fuel system problem as well so had to take 12kg more fuel
Which is not great for qualy. Need to find out why car is changing so much! Friday did 36.5 today just managed to do 37.9 so not great
Gap 0.222s. 12kg extra fuel cost more than that (0,3-0,5s).

Charles Pic is confident that there is a lot more to come from him this season despite an impressive start to his rookie Formula 1 campaign.
The Frenchman outqualified Marussia team-mate Timo Glock for the second race in a row in Spain. He has also shown strong race pace, impressing the team with his speed on high fuel-loads in particular, despite having no significant experience of the 2012 Marussia before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
"It's only my fifth race so I still have many things to learn," Pic told AUTOSPORT. "But even though I feel better and better with each race, I still have many areas to work on and improve on.
"I think that we can be better in qualifying. Our race pace has been good, especially in Bahrain, so we will have to see how we will be [in Spain]."
Despite the fact that Marussia's lack of competitiveness means that his performances largely go unnoticed, Pic is confident that the team has recognised his progress.
The Frenchman has won races in every category he has competed regularly in prior to F1 but despite being used to victories in GP2, Formula Renault 3.5, Formula Renault and Formula Campus he is not struggling to adapt to live at the back of the grid.
"You try to optimise the car you have and give your best," said Pic. "This is no different to other categories in that regard.
"The difference is that there is a much bigger gap between the cars in Formula 1 so even if on some weekends you are doing a very good job, it maybe isn't shown by the result. But the team can see it, which is the most important thing for me.
"I know that my engineer is pretty happy and team is happy, even though I still need to improve. But overall what I've done in the first races is positive."

Over a minute ahead of Glock as well.Great weekend for Charles considering his lack of running in FP3.

Well , it was about car balance.

Quite strange as he had more running than Pic.
Anyway since Bahrain, they pretty evenly matched.

Well, I'd imagine those problems did not affect him for the entire race, and Pic was ahead the entire time. Considering his limited running that's impressive.Glock was having car troubles according to the Marussia Twitter feed.

Charles again ahead of Timo
The kid has been a quiet revelation so far this season. Glock might not be electric over one lap but with Charles lack of pre-season/testing he has really done a stellar job lately.

But he'll still get dropped at the end of the season for someone with more money. Hopefully a better team picks him up, he deserves it.The kid has been a quiet revelation so far this season. Apparently Charles brings quite a lot of money with him. I'd be suprised if gets dumped after such good performances. Unless a better team wants him then i'd very much like to see him at Marussia next year. Great kid

Charles is doing great job comparing with Jerome or Lucas. However i am a bit worried about stories of Chilton's dad buying stake Marussia and Max getting the drive in 2013, they will not fire Timo-they need experienced driver and he has contract up to 2014, so Pic needs to get a seat on better team.
I think Caterham could be an option, Heikki has been a bit quiet on the staying there front so i suspect he maybe moving up the grid, perhaps he could get in there. Either way if he keeps it up he deserves to be given another year somewhere.

Yes, he lapped Glock and he and Marussia said that they were actively fighting with Petrov on merit. Another fantastic drive I think, I'd say he was the driver of the day. But of course nobody will notice because he's driving for an uncompetitive team. He's definitely well inside my top ten of the most impressive drivers this season.I think it was around lap 45-50 by then he was 78s clear of Timo. By the end he'd only been lapped once and was only 20s behind Petrov with a few laps left.

All in all, I think Glock is overrated, but Pic is still doing very good job.

D'Ambrosio was also a match for Glock in terms of race pace. Pic is better than Jerome was in qualifying, though.

Glock had a new chassis and still had unbalancing/setup issues, but not to discredit Pic, he is looking like a match for Timo.

He picked up very well indeed. Glock is under pressure, I knew that and was smiling at the moment he spun off somewhere in the first ten laps. Not smiling because of a disliking of Timo, he's a very good driver, but this was definitely a wakeup call and 1-0 (or 2-0?) for the Kid.Glock had a new chassis and still had unbalancing/setup issues, but not to discredit Pic, he is looking like a match for Timo.

Glock had no new chassis, they changed some parts, but there still seems to be a dog in that car.Glock had a new chassis and still had unbalancing/setup issues, but not to discredit Pic, he is looking like a match for Timo.
Noone would suppose Glock to be a second per lap slower than Pic ...
Poor guy, shame they not simply change cars to check the issues.
Don't understand why Timo's car is oversteering a lot while Charles's car is slightly understeering.

Timo lost parts of his FW and had to pit early, car was obviously compromised if you look at the sector times lap by lap, Timo was ahead on first few laps until early pit.
No change.

Yes but you can't say that Pic is not doing better than D'ambrosio and Di grassi.

Isnt Charles going to Caterham so that Total becomes a Caterham sponsor too?
French Engines, French CEO (just appointed) and a French Driver with sponsors...
I hope so! Would probably be a step forward, albeit not a big one. The other options for Caterham don't look massively appealing, Petrov? Van Der Garde? Razia? Rossi? The only other good option is probably Jaime Alg.
