We were more populated by more or less normal F1 fans with a technical bent then. Now the tech literacy of the discourse is at a generally higher level, though there's less awestruck wonder and curiosity evident I reckon.

The answer's pretty much spot on, however...
I recall Art once telling me that it was really sad that we had so little technical talk on the forum. He thought it was a bit of a joke, but it was truly slow in here for a long time.
